I’m a cleaner & there are 6 things I’d never have in my home – they are bacterial breeding grounds & limescale magnets

A PROFESSIONAL cleaner has listed the six items she'd never have in her home - and it's bad news if you like black matte fixtures.

The cleaning whizz, only known as @freshasadaisyuk, took to TikTok to share the popular things she could only best describe as ''limescale magnets'' and practically ''impossible'' to keep looking as good as new.

Blinds

According to the pro, from West Midlands, one such item that causes a headache when attempting to clean it is a set of blinds.

However, if your home already has blinds, fear not, as there are plenty of products in the market that will make the removing dust and dirt easier.

The easiest way to keep them looking pristine is by dusting them regularly - according to experts at Ad It Yourself, this should be done every week or so.

Black Matte Fixtures

Sure, they may look chic and instantly make any bathroom appear more luxurious - but, as explained by the guru, the material will soon become an ''absolute limescale magnet'' that's ''virtually impossible to keep nice''.

Maintaining black taps can also be a nightmare in hard water areas. The most effective way to counter limescale build-up is to rub a bit of olive oil on the tap after cleaning, explained the team at Bathroom City.

Washing-up bowls

Although less common, washing-up bowls are still used across some households - but you'll never see one at @freshasadaisyuk's home.

She explained that time and time again, she'll see so many that are covered in grim mould, especially around the bottom and in the ridges.

''Feels like a bacteria breeding ground.''

Rubber toilet brushes

Rubber toilet brushes have been all the rage in the recent years - and according to microbiologists silicone brushes ''not only seem less gross than their plastic-bristled counterparts; they are actually more sanitary (and generally, a better buy) for a couple of reasons'', Apartment Therapy said.

But despite all the hype amongst fellow cleaning enthusiasts, the whizz disagreed and claimed they're ''shocking'' and ''don't work''.

Drying racks

Millions of households rely on a drying rack to store their washed dishes and cutlery - but, as explained by the pro, these, too, harbour a hidden secret you can't always see.

In the video, the cleaning expert referred to them as a ''breeding ground for mould and bacteria'' - this is a result of the water sitting ''in all the grooves''.

Stainless steel bins

In theory, just like the black matte fixtures, stainless steel bins should look chic and give the bathroom a more elevated appearance.

But according to the West Midlands-based guru, these often turn ''rusty'', especially when placed in a humid environment.

How to tackle the rust? The professional team at WD-40 advised to steer clear of using abrasives - as stainless steel simple won't react well to this method.

Luckily, you can remove rust from stainless steel without a lot of scrubbing.

Simply spray the affected area with some WD-40 Multi-Use Product, leave for a couple of minutes, and remove with a gentle cleaning brush or toothbrush.
