'No place in America for this kind of sick violence,' says Biden after Trump rally shooting
President Joe Biden has said there is "no place in America for this kind of violence" after a shooting at a Donald Trump rally.
"It's sick. Sick," he said in a press briefing in Delaware, following the attack on the Trump rally in Pennsylvania.
Butler County District attorney told the Associated Press (AP) that a gunman was dead and that a rally attendee had also been killed.
One person is also reportedly in critical condition.
"We cannot allow for this to be happening," President Biden said.
He also thanked the Secret Service and added: "Everyone must condemn it."
Mr Biden said he had attempted to contact Trump following the shooting.
"I tried to get a hold of Donald - he's with his doctors. Apparently, he's doing well."
"I hope I get to speak to him tonight."
The US Secret Service said Trump was now "safe" and that it had implemented protective measures around him.
It also said that an investigation had been launched - and that it was treating the investigation as an assassination attempt.
