In recent weeks, he's drawn Dylan Wilson under his wing, much to his dad Sean Tully's horror.

Last week, he got Dylan to sell a backpack full of dodgy vapes, but when Sean found them he covered them in water in the sink, ruining them.

But his actions left Dylan with a debt to pay to Mason, and with no money to give him, he had to hand over his brand new trainers instead.

In tonight's episode, Sean discovered his son's trainers were missing, and Dylan lied saying someone at school had taken them.

Sean promptly rang the school and a later scene saw the head teacher demanding to know who had taken them.

One of Mason's cronies dropped Liam's name into the picture and the teen - who has been trying to avoid Mason - was forced to open his locker, only for the trainers to be revealed.

His shocked mum Maria and stepdad Gary were quick to question him on why he would have taken Dylan's trainers, but the reasons Liam gave didn't add up to Gary, who figured out he had either been told to take them by someone else, or had been set up.

While Liam didn't grass Mason up, when Maria warned he could be expelled he said "I don't care, I'd rather be kicked out than be a grass" before storming off to his room.

Gary decided to take matters into his own hands and found Mason, where he gave him a very firm warning to stay away from Liam, and if he didn't, he wouldn't be as friendly next time.

However, his words didn't have the desired effect on the bully, who was seen messaging Liam while he was studying in his bedroom and telling him: "You're a dirty rat, and everyone is gonna know it."

Liam looked tearful and terrified at what was to come, and Corrie viewers also feared for his safety.

One wrote: "Why do I have this bad feeling Mason is going to give poor Liam such a hard time that it will lead to Liam trying to take his own life."

Another added: "If Liam wasn’t so scared, he could play the voice note that tinpot teen thug Mason sent him to the school head and Maria and Gary, and watch Mason p*** his pants."

A third tweeted: "Oh s*** gary has now made 10x worse for poor liam..."

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
