CLAIRE Foy revealed she had to quit The Crown for the sake of her own sanity - admitting 'I had to be selfish'.
The star shocked fans by quitting the popular Netflix show after two years of ruling the screen as Queen Elizabeth II.
In her place, Olivia Colman took over the iconic role.
Now, Claire, 36, has revealed that she made the difficult decision for the sake of her "own sanity."
Known for her mesmerizing portrayal of the iconic monarch, Foy admitted that the intense role took a toll on her mental well-being.
"I've got a lot of love for the people who are still doing the show, but for my own sanity, I ended the show when I ended it," Claire told People magazine.

The Award-winning actress added: "I let it go and moved on and I think that's quite healthy."
Foy's regal performance, earned her critical acclaim and even a Golden Globe award.
Since leaving The Crown, Claire has gone on to star in popular films like The Girl in the Spider's Web as Lisbeth Salander.
As well as this she portrayed Neil Armstrong's wife Janet in First Man.
Foy is set to shine in the upcoming film All of Us Strangers, alongside Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.
The movie is already generating Oscar buzz.
