    The Japanese international has a release clause worth £51million, according to Mundo Deportivo.

    The report suggests that the Red Devils could trigger the clause in the summer.

    However Liverpool, Juventus and Al-Nassr are also said to be interested.

    It is also believed that Kubo would prefer to stay at Sociedad.

    The Manchester United ace was said to have been facing a fine of two weeks’ wages of £650,000 as a result.

    The club tonight said the matter was now closed.

    It said in a statement: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions.

    "This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”

    Roy Hodgson has opened up on the future of Michael Olise amid speculation surrounding the forward.

    He said: “My thoughts are [it] would be a sad day for the club.
