Are pubs open over the Christmas bank holiday?
GOING to your local pub is a Christmas tradition for many households across the country.
So if you're thinking about raising a glass this festive period, make sure you know which pubs will be open and when.
Are pubs open for Christmas and New Year?
Many pubs throughout the UK receive requests for family meals over the festive period.
Quite a few remain open, but some choose to close to give their staff time off to rest.
If your local pub is independently run they'll dictate their opening hours over Christmas and New Year.
But we look at the opening hours for some of the country's biggest pub chains.

Wetherspoons
Most Wetherspoons pubs will be open on Christmas Day, but opening hours will vary from branch to branch.
With the exception of our airport pubs, Spoons will not be serving food on Christmas Day.
You can do this by using the chain's locator tool on its website, or you can always pick up the phone and call.
The exact time they will shut will vary from venue to venue.
Venues that are usually open until 10pm will remain open until 11pm, while some will continue to serve right up until midnight or 1am.
The majority of Spoons will be open late to help you ring in the New Year.
We don't have a full list of hours for each Wetherspoon pub so check with your local to see when it will be open.
What about other pubs?
Greene King has over 300 pubs in London and 2,600 in the UK.
Opening times over the festive period will vary depending on location.
But again, you can check the pub locator on its website which shows you when your local is open.
Mitchells and Butlers own some of the most popular pubs in the UK including Harvester and Toby Carvery.
Like Greene King, opening times over the Christmas and New Year holiday period vary across M&B's pubs so you should check out either Harvester's or Toby Carvery's websites.
You can use their locator tools to find your nearest pub and the opening times.
You just have to enter your postcode, location or the venue you want to go to.
