I rented a dress for my birthday party and it was not family friendly, I looked nothing like the model

THE gap between the glossy image and reality has hit home for one disappointed fashion fan.

She did a thoroughly modern thing and rented a dress for her birthday party.

But when she tried it on she discovered it was not at all family-friendly.

Even worse for Rebekah (@rebekahisabel_), it looked nothing like the model.

She admitted she was "angry" and was left in a serious predicament with her party just days away.

This lady was also left feeling decidedly deflated.

Rebekah has 34,000 followers on her TikTok, where she shares her love of “outfits [and] beauty.”

For all her experience, she could not have anticipated this dress disaster.

“Is this a fashion fail?" she mused as she considered her next move.

In her post, she explained her dilemma: “My birthday is this Saturday.

"I rented a dress out from Rent the Runway, but I don’t know if I like it or not."

She fell for the allure of the glossy image, but it failed to live up to her expectations.

“First of all, it’s really short and I feel like it looks nothing like the picture."

To prove her point, she showed the dress on the model.

“This is the dress I got. And this is the dress that came in the mail."

Sugar-candy pink, the dress was mid-thigh length. But the most striking feature was the puffed-up bow across the front and all around.

But when Rebekah tried hers on, there was a serious problem: the bows had lost their puff.

Instead, she got a lank, lackluster, and saggy version, not a good look.

“The whole thing is droopy," she despaired. “The bow looks nothing like the picture.

“I think it’s so sad. I’m not thinking this is family-friendly," she said.

One commenter tried to help by coming up with a solution: “Maybe use some starch to help give them some shape?”
