Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal LIVE SCORE: Gunners look to revive Prem title hopes but face tough clash at top-4 hopefuls
2nd v 3rd
Arsenal are the highest-ranked team in action this afternoon and a win over West Ham would close the gap on Liverpool, who face Manchester City tomorrow. The striker-less Gunners toiled to victory at Leicester last week and Graham Potter might think he can stifle Mikel Arteta’s side.
Much of last few day’s discourse around Arsenal has revolved around whether they’ve lost the title or were outrawed by the sheer consistent presence of a Mohamed Salah-led Liverpool.
In normal title discussions, the Gunners would still be in contention at this point. After all, they've only lost three games. But, Mikel Arteta’s side should know better than anyone, that nowadays there’s no such thing as a “normal title race” with or without the Man City juggernaut overshadowing your every move.
The striker-less Gunners toiled to victory at Leicester a couple weeks ago and Graham Potter put end to the seriousness of an unorthodox presence in Mikel Merino, proving sustainable over the home stretch of the season.
As for Nottingham Forest, on the surface a 4-3 loss at St James Park is as honorable as it is frustrating. But, the latter is now the feeling they occupy in Big Games that don’t go their way. Their presence at the top has been commended so far, but could easily fall into the great ‘what ifs.’
If Arsenal are to have dropped out of a title race and into a battle for Champions League qualification, a fixture against Forest is a blessing and a curse.
