I let my kids swear and punching is ok – but tacky character clothes are a big no no

A MOTHER has opened up about the ‘controversial’ ways she and her partner are bringing up their two children.

Eve O’Sullivan, a mum-of-two, explained that she allows her little darlings to swear, and if someone lays a hand on them, she teaches them to defend themselves and hit back.

Not only this, but Eve explained that she makes her children have 100% attendance at school, and they aren’t allowed to wear ‘tacky’ character clothes.

Opening up about her way of parenting on social media, Eve captioned her clip ‘How we raise our kids…Always a controversial one.’

She then shared a variety of pictures of her with her two little ones, as she said: “How we bring our children up, some people may find controversial.”

Eve revealed her first parenting rule, as she wrote: “No one gets to tell our children what to do apart from us.

“They’re our kids no-one else’s.”

She then added: “100% attendance at school is important.

“We teach them to be assertive and organised.

“Our job is to prepare them for adulthood.”

Not only this, but when it comes to hobbies, Eve explained: “One child plays football and my other gymnastics.

“They never miss a training session and never miss a gymnastic lesson.

“This keeps them active and have something to strive for.”

When it comes to swearing, Eve revealed: “We allow them to swear.

“I’m not talking horrible, foul words, but they say the odd swear word.

“Who cares? Not us.”

And if someone was to get physical with her children, Eve confirmed: “They always defend themselves.

“Someone lays hands on them first, best believe they will have the last hit… and harder.”

Although Eve’s kids are encouraged to defend themselves, they mustn’t wear tacky clothes, as Eve added: “Character clothing…sorry no.

“Looks tacky, they are an extension of us. We like them to look and dress nice.”

Finally, Eve stressed the importance of family values when it comes to raise her kids.

She shared: “Last of all, family is everything.

“We teach them to protect each other always.

“My kids are best mates, if one needs the other they will always be there within a heartbeat.”

The TikTok clip has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 238,700 views.

But social media users were left divided at Eve’s claims - while some agreed with her parenting style, not everyone was on board.

One person said: “100% agree.”

Another added: “Doing everything right.”

A third commented: “Good parenting.”

However, someone else shared: “All I see is control. Never ends well.”

Whilst another user wrote: “They’re not an extension of you. They’re their own people and individuals. Get over yourselves.”
