Axel Rudakubana live updates – Southport killer rushed to hospital before sentencing for murdering three young girls

  • Sentencing delayed as Rudakubana REFUSES to enter court

Axel Rudakubana’s sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court had been due to begin at 11am.

But approaching an hour later, proceedings are yet to get underway.

A prison van believed to have Rudakubana inside was pictured arriving at court earlier on Thursday.

But the killer is understood to be refusing to enter the court.

  • How Southport attacker’s 12-minute atrocity unfolded

Axel Rudakubana's atrocity took just 12 minutes to unfold on a beautiful summer's morning last year.

Twenty-six excited children, all girls and aged between six and 11, happily sang and played at a Taylor Swift dance class.

Three miles away Rudakubana, who pleaded guilty on Monday to murdering three girls, was arming himself with a 20cm kitchen knife.

Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, had earlier been dropped off by loving parents at 10am.

The two-hour event was organised by instructors Leanne Lucas and Heidi Liddle at The Hart Space in Hart Street, Southport.

But despite this and contact with other state agencies, the authorities failed to stop the attack.

  • How Southport attacker turned from karate-loving teen in ‘quiet’ village to a cold-blooded murderer

Axel Rudakubana turned from a “quiet” schoolboy brought up in a loving Christian family with a flare for musical theatre into a cold-blooded child killer.

He’d been born in Cardiff in 2006 to doting, churchgoing parents.

The family relocated to the village of Banks, Lancs, in 2013 when he was aged just seven and were valued members of the local community.

They were heavily involved in the local church, and his mother was a stay-at-home parent while his dad was described as “very hardworking”.

His parents, in their 40s, were originally from Rwanda, were forced to go into hiding following the attack as far-right protesters rioted across the country.

Rudakubana, who has autism, was said to be “quiet” and “introvert” by neighbours in the small cul-de-sac where they lived.

  • How sickeningly easy it was for Southport killer to buy knife & poison online

Southport murderer Axel Rudakubana was able to buy knives on Amazon in seconds despite being just 17 with a history of violence.

The triple child killer also purchased equipment to make deadly ricin poison from the online retail giant, it emerged.

Sir Keir Starmer told The Sun he will urgently change the law to stop under-18s bypassing online age checks with ease. He said: “This cannot continue.”

Rudakubana, who fatally stabbed three young girls at a Taylor Swift dance class last July, exploited limited checks allowing blades to be sent without ID.

He amassed a cache of weapons including knives, machetes and arrows, and admitted carrying a blade more than ten times.

  • Rudakubana 'rushed to hospital'

Axel Rudakubana is understood to have been rushed to hospital ahead of his sentencing today.

The killer "required medical attention" and was taken for treatment in the early hours of this morning, The Times reports.

He has reportedly been segregated from other prisoners at the jail he has been detained in outside of Merseyside.
