Newcastle make shock transfer approach for Aston Villa starJacob Ramsey as they look to solve injury crisis
NEWCASTLE have made an approach to sign Jacob Ramsey, according to reports.
The Aston Villa star has attracted interest from a number of sides in England and abroad.
But it is Newcastle who have taken the initiative by making an approach for the 22-year-old.
According to The Athletic, Villa need to raise funds before the end of June in order to stay compliant with Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
The report suggests the club will only contemplate offers of above £50million.
This being said, Ramsey has established himself as a key player under Unai Emery.

And despite Villa's need to raise cash, the report indicates there are other alternative ways to make money.
Toon chiefs are looking at ways to bolster Eddie Howe's injury ravaged squad.
However, unless a significant sale is made by Newcastle this month, Ramsey will be beyond their reach.
Tottenham and Bayern Munich are other clubs who have made their admiration for the England Under-21 international known.
