China has fully commissioned the world's largest pumped-storage hydroelectric power station

According to experts, "Fengning" will be able to supply more electricity during peak consumption hours, while storing electricity during less intensive hours. The facility has set several world records, including for the amount of energy it can accumulate and the scale of its underground power units, China Daily notes. Fengning is expected to save 480,800 tons of fuel in coal equivalent and will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.2 million tons per year.
