The Repair Shop fans seriously concerned as string of beloved stars ‘disappear’ from BBC show with no explanation

FANS of The Repair Shop were left seriously concerned when a number of beloved experts were left out of a cast reunion picture.

Star Brenton West posted a picture of The Repair Shop cast as they prepare to return to the BBC’s iconic barn. However, there were several experts missing from the reunion picture, including Steve Fletcher, which has left fans concerned about his future on the show.

Brenton West posted a cryptic photo

Since 2017, The Repair Shop has given BBC viewers an insight into the rewarding work done by expert craftspeople determined to save beloved items in danger of being thrown away.

The current experts include Brenton West, Lucia Scalisi, Kirsten Ransay, Amanda Middlemarch, Julie Tatchell, Sonnaz Nooranvary, Suzie Fletcher, Steve Fletcher, Will Kirk, Dom Chinea, and host Jay Blades. They are regularly joined by guest experts, too.

Series 12 of The Repair Shop concluded in January, and since then fans have been waiting for news of more episodes.

Expert Brenton, who is a silversmith and antique photography expert, excited fans when he posted a reunion picture of himself and several cast members posing outside of the show’s signature barn workshop on Instagram

“The team are back together filming a new series,” Brenton shared alongside the photo.

Although the news excited fans, many were quick to notice that several experts were missing from the photo.

Who was missing from the reunion?

The Repair Shop fans were left seriously concerned when they noticed clock and watch expert Steve was missing from Brenton’s photo - especially as his sister Suzie was present.

Kirsten, Will, Dom, and Jay can also be seen smiling in the photo, but Lucia, Amanda, Julie, Sonnaz, and Steve were nowhere to be seen.

Commenting on the photo, one excited fan pointed out: “Legends! They are like family. But.. missing a few?”

“Lovely, but where’s Steve?” asked another.

Another fan expressed their disappointment about the missing experts. “What, no Steve or the Teddy Bear Ladies?” they wrote, referring to Amanda and Julie who are better known by the moniker the Teddy Bear Ladies.

“Always wonderful to watch the episodes of The Repair Shop! Thank you all for the joy you bring! But we need the Teddy Bear Ladies and Steve to join you as well!!” a fourth added.

Unfortunately, Brenton didn’t give an explanation for his co-stars absence from the photo.

Who are the main experts on The Repair Shop and what do they do?

The Repair Shop fans will recognise these familiar faces:

  • Jay Blades, furniture restorer and host
  • Brenton West, silversmith and antique photography specialist
  • Lucia Scalisi, painting conservatorKirsten Ramsay, Sussex-based ceramics conservator
  • Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell, soft toy restorers, known as the "Bear Ladies"
  • Sonnaz Nooranvary, upholstery restorer

Steve will return to the barn

Good news for The Repair Shop fans, as Steve’s disappearance is only a blip.

Although he didn’t appear in the snap, last week he confirmed on his own Instagram page that he would be returning for the thirteenth series of the BBC show.

Steve excited fans when he shared the news.

In a post, he wrote: “It’s been quite a whirlwind start to 2024, so it’s been a blessing to have had a short break from filming, but we are all preparing to get back into action down at the barn next week and it feels great!

“I am so looking forward to catching up with The Repair Shop family, and to finding out what treasures the production team have found for us to repair for you.”

He concluded the post: “I’ll keep you posted with behind-the-scenes bits and bobs.
