Nick Knowles brands himself ‘a whale’ as he jokes about weight gain that saw fans brand him ‘unrecognisable’
NICK Knowles has compared himself to a whale after joking about his weight gain.
During an appearance on The One Show, the 61-year-old stunned viewers with his dramatically changed appearance - leaving many to brand him as 'unrecognisable'.
In Monday night's episode, Nick was joined by Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden to talk about his upcoming projects.
However, viewers found themselves unable to ignore the presenter's noticeable change in appearance.
Host Alex Jones even pointed it out, saying: "There’s an elephant in the room here. Nobody’s talking about it. There’s a new look, Nick, going on…"
Nick explained the reason behind the makeover, expressing his decision to embrace a different look.

He said: "I’m not actually doing any filming for a while.
"I’m doing some writing and things and so I had the chance to grow a beard… I can’t have a beard like this when I’m filming."
The star also mentioned feeling much more relatable compared to super-fit individuals like Bear Grylls.
He continued: “I’m 61 now and it’s no great surprise that I’m a bit overweight.
"Even putting on a wetsuit and appearing on telly… you can’t worry.”
In a self-deprecating joke, the star quipped: "If I were to lounge on a beach, Greenpeace might mistake me for a lost marine mammal and spring into action."
Elsewhere, the dad-of-two looked smitten as he attended the TV Choice Awards 2024 earlier this month with fiancée Katie Dadzie.
The DIY SOS presenter, who popped the question to Katie last July, appeared happier than ever as they hit the red carpet.
Katie donned a glamorous black midi dress, while Nick looked handsome in a black suit, wrapping his arm around his lover's waist.
Last summer, Nick shared the happy news of his engagement on Instagram.
Sharing a series of loved-up snaps, which included Nick down on one knee, he wrote: "There was a Haribo ring incident in New Orleans. Very happy."
The star asked Katie to marry him with a Haribo sweet ring as a joke but later picked out a £50,000 sparkler for his wife-to-be.
