On Friday night's edition of The Last Leg, despite intense speculation, Alex, 39, seemed to pour cold water on the idea he was behind the famous furry mask.

"It can't be [me]. I wouldn't go on the tele dressed as something ridiculous.

"I know you've been talking about this I just have to say this straight off. Look at me now, I am sweating. I am sweating in here tonight."

However, co-host Josh Widdicombe previously revealed his suspicions that Alex is hiding on The Masked Singer and he was not buying his co-star's explanations.

He joked: 'Because you're lying.'

But Alex was quick to reply as he shot back: "Do you really think that I would be able to go in a costume, a massive hairy costume?

"They'd open it up, there'd be nothing left. It'd be like the end of the Snowman."

He added: "All I'm saying, how can you watch that and think it's me? It's clearly one of the Backstreet Boys," as a clip of the character was then played on screen.

Josh couldn't help but interject as he asmitted: "I like Bigfoot because it references you. Flamingo that was the other option.

"First week Brooker was on as Bigfoot, and we're all clear it is Brooker that's Bigfoot, even though he's lying to us."

Masked Singer's Big Foot 'unmasked' as popular TV presenter after 'clue'

Previous clues have led fans of the long-running singing guessing game to think that it is indeed the TV star who is hiding behind the mask.

In the show, the left leg of the character is in a bandage and he uses a crutch.

Alex the bandage is a nod to his popular Channel 4 show, The Last Leg as well as the fact he wears a prosthetic leg.

The star also famously signed up to play rugby for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation PDRL team - and fans couldn't help but notice this after the character dropped a prominent hint about rhinos.
