I upgraded my front porch with faux plants from Amazon – my setup method makes it look fuller and more natural

AN interior decorator has shared her fail-proof front porch plant setup.

For a lush but low-maintenance welcome, she replaced all her plants with faux greens from Amazon.

Jessica (@missjessicanicoleblog) shared the design advice in a TikTok video.

She decided to upgrade to faux plants after "giving up" on real plants.

"I have a very hard time keeping plants alive on this front porch," she explained.

"I'm sparing any more innocent plant lives and using faux stems from Amazon to make my own."

To fake the illusion of real plants, she stuffed her large planter with boxes to make up for the bulk of the height.

For the remaining space at the top, she filled in the gaps with foam green blocks.

The final piece of the puzzle was a bundle of $25 fern stems from Amazon, which she stuck to the foam blocks until they looked full and natural.

She made sure to cover up all the spaces that revealed the foam blocks and was pleased with the "game-changer" makeover.

"I absolutely love it and I love even more that I don't have to worry about keeping it alive," she joked.

Those who lacked a green thumb understood her struggle and praised her creative solution.

"Genius! And I know I won't kill it!" said one commenter.

"The only plants I can keep alive," joked another.

Jessica even had a fix to make the plants look as realistic as possible.

One commenter was skeptical of the tip as they worried about how legitimate the plants may look.

Budget interior design tips

Interior designer Judy Hoang shared her furniture tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Thrift furniture and paint it to match your decor.
  • Test if an item is fit for its purpose before thrifting.
  • Shop at Target or HomeGoods for rugs, lamps, desks, and pillows.
  • Invest in classic timeless pieces.
  • Set up smart home lighting to save money.

"Until they fade and look plastic. I only use them in winter," they said.

"I could try spraying them with Sunguard!" Jessica replied.

Many were pleased after trying the trick out for themselves.

"I did this but with artificial boxwoods cause I had already killed two of them and couldn’t take the money used to replace them," said one commenter.

"So happy with it!"

"Love it! I did the same thing and two years later, I still have beautiful-looking plants," said another.
