Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkiye discuss cooperation in the gas sector

A meeting between the leadership of the State Concern "Türkmengaz" and a delegation led by Abdulvahid Fidan, General Director of the Turkish company BOTAŞ, was held in the Turkmen capital. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in the gas sector.

It was noted that the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to develop the country's fuel and energy complex through diversification are being successfully implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Increasing the export potential of this sector remains a high priority.

Expanding cooperation with the global community, international organizations, and leading energy companies is a key element of Turkmenistan's state policy. Special attention is given to strengthening partnerships with the Republic of Turkiye.

The relationship between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples dates back millennia and continues to thrive on principles of mutual respect and understanding. Turkiye is one of Turkmenistan's main and most reliable trade and economic partners. Cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including the export of energy resources, is among the priorities of bilateral relations based on equality and mutual interests.

During the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Turkiye in March this year, agreements were signed that elevated bilateral relations to a new level and provided a legal foundation for expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector. These agreements included a Declaration of Intent for Cooperation on Hydrocarbon Resources and a Memorandum of Understanding on developing partnership in natural gas between "Türkmengaz" and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkiye.

The meeting concluded with confidence in the further development of interstate partnerships for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of both nations.
