You’d never think my crispy chicken & mac ‘n cheese recipe could’ve helped me lose 100 lbs – a week’s worth cost $27.33
A WEIGHT loss guru has revealed his secret recipe that might have helped him lose 100 pounds.
He was able to meal prep on a budget, cooking five days' worth of healthy macaroni and cheese with crispy chicken bites for $27.33.
TikToker Benji Xavier (@benjixavier) loves to create content about the food he eats to lose weight.
In one video, he showed how he makes a nutrient-dense version of a high-calorie classic.
"This is one of those recipes that you’d never think of being for weight loss when you're eating it," Benji wrote.
"It’s packed full of flavor, texture, and protein," he continued.
Each serving has around 438 calories and 56 grams of protein.
First, Benji starts by cutting three large chicken breasts into cubes.
He seasoned them with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chicken bouillon, and some salt.
Then he added two eggs to the chicken and mixed it with his hands while wearing a rubber glove.
Instead of bread crumbs, Benji poured cornflakes into a bowl and crushed it with his hands.
Then he dipped each piece of chicken into the breading and placed it on a baking sheet.
You cook them in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes.
For the macaroni, Benji cooked a whole package of Bonza protein pasta.
The sauce consists of cottage cheese, a package of cheese powder, fat-free cheddar cheese, fat-free milk, garlic powder, and pepper.
He blended all the ingredients and then mixed the pasta with the sauce.
Altogether, Benji spent $27.33 to make the meal, which comes to $5.47 per serving.
