Liverpool trophy parade LIVE: Thousands lining the streets NOW for Premier League champions’ bus parade – updates

  • What's the parade route?

OK, let's get the formalities over and done with…

Liverpool have confirmed the near-10 mile victory route will be the same as parades held in 2019 and 2022 (of course, they was no parade for their 2019-20 Prem title due to the Covid pandemic).

The team bus will depart from the south of the city in Allerton Maze before heading north on Queens Drive.

The parade will cross the Rocket flyover, before following Queens Drive, Mill Bank, and West Derby Road.

It will then continue on towards Islington, Leeds Street and the Strand.

The route will finish at Blundell Street where a host of giddy Reds fans will welcome - and most-importantly celebrate - their heroes.

The whole thing will take between three and five hours.

  • The elephant in the parade

OK, let's just get this over with people...

Yes, Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaving Liverpool. Yes, this is likely the last the Kop faithful will ever see him in an official LFC setting.

From what the fans have been saying, there are two ways of thinking...

    1. He's Liverpool through and through, won everything and deserves to leave as a club legend.

    2. He's Liverpool through and through, why wouldn't he stay and improve what's already an outrageous legacy?

Trent was infamously booed after his official announcement revealing he would - expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

But he received a glowing ovation in the final-day draw against Crystal Palace when he came on as a half-time sub for Conor Bradley.

He's here. He's happy. Drink it in, Trent... Los Blancos sure know how to throw a party, and sure get to throw them often. But this is your home. These are your neighbours. This is once-in-a-lifetime.

  • Men of the moment

So we've touched on Arne Slot... briefly. But what about the players?

This squad is essentially Jurgen Klopp's, save for bit-part player Federico Chiesa.

Slot tried to sign Zubimendi to fill the gaping hole in the No6 position.

Enter Ryan Gravenberch, comfortably the best No6 in the Premier League and arguably one of the best in the world.

In midfield, he was joined by Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, as well as the likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and cult icon Wataru Endo, to provide the beating heart.

With Virgil van Dijk marshalling the defence, Alisson in goal and Mo Salah in rampant form in attack, surely the Reds should never have been counted out last summer.

With no further ado, let's tune in with the players!

  • The backstory

A year ago, Liverpool fans were trembling at the terrifying prospect of life without Jurgen Klopp.

The German legend had done so much for the Reds, dragging them from simply scrapping for European qualification to Champions League regulars.

He even ended the club's Premier League title drought in 2019-20.

So the idea of him leaving and being replaced by a relative unknown? It was a scary time to be Kop follower.

So, Arne Slot… how would he cope with filling Klopp's massive shoes and the inevitable rebuild?

The Dutchman ignored the nay-sayers and the worriers and guided the rampant Reds to only their second-ever Premier League title.

It was also a record-levelling 20 top-flight crowns… sorry Manchester United, Liverpool are now the most-successful English team of all time thanks in no small part to Mr Slot.

Enough chit-chat, bring on the title parade!
