  • One hour to go

We'll be back live with frame-by-frame from what has been a nail-biting final at 11.30am GMT.

Remember, the players are tied 1-1 from their previous two meetings, with Chris Wakelin winning the last one at the Wuhan Open earlier this year.

  • Ding leading Wakelin 5-4

It has been a close one so far at the International Championship final in Nanjing.

Wakelin got off to a stunning start to race into a 4-1 lead after five frame.

But it's been all Ding since, winning the last FOUR frames.

  • Interval time

The opening session has been incredibly close, with Ding shading it 5-4.

The players now go for their interval and will be back on the table at 11.30am GMT.

  • Latest score - Ding 5-4 Wakelin

Ding pots the pink to end on 81 as he takes the lead for the first time in the final.

That's FOUR frames in a row now for Ding.

Though it was another close one with no centuries scored yet so far in the match. Wakelin is still very much in this.

  • Latest score - Ding 4-4 Wakelin

And Ding has taken the crucial eighth frame...by an absolute whisper.

A cagey frame saw both men back and forth on the table before Ding prevailed 54-53.

  • Latest score - Ding 3-4 Wakelin

And now it is Wakelin who will be looking forward to the upcoming interval!

Ding closes on 80 as he wins back-to-back frames for the first time in the match.

Neither man yet to hit a century in a tense final so far.

  • Latest score - Ding 2-4 Wakelin

What was that about a Ding comeback?

Looking to win his first ranking title in five years, Ding has reduced the deficit here to two frames.

  • Latest score - Ding 1-4 Wakelin

My word what a performance this is starting to be from Warwickshire's Chris Wakelin.

He has now opened up a THREE frame led after storming to the fifth.

The interval can't come soon enough for Ding.

  • Break - Ding 1-3 Wakelin

The pair now go in for a 15 minute break following the fourth frame.

And Chris Wakelin will be by far the happier man after that start.

However Ding Junhui also made a slow start against Xu Si in his semi-final yesterday but came back to dominate.

  • Latest score - Ding 1-3 Wakelin

And Warwickshire ace Wakelin has now added some daylight between the pair!

Stunning start from Wakelin in the final.

Remember there is £175,000 in prize money for the winner and £75,000 for the runner up.

  • Latest score - Ding 1-2 Wakelin

A back-and-forth epic in the making already this one.

Chris Wakelin has taken the third frame to go back in front in Nanjing!

  • Latest score - Ding 1-1 Wakelin

But Ding Junhui has fought back to claim the second. We could be in store for an absolute cracker in store today!

Ding is looking to win his first ranking title in five years.

The head-to-head between the pair is tied 1-1 in two previous matches, with Wakelin winning the last one at the Wuhan Open earlier this year.

  • Latest score - Ding 0-1 Wakelin

    Nerves? What nerves?

Warwickshire's Chris Wakelin takes the first frame here in China as he looks to win his second ranking title.

Wakelin won the Snooker Shoot Out last year in Leicester.

  • Here we go!

Not long now until Chris Wakelin and Ding Junhui are out in front of a packed crowd in Nanjing.

Remember, a massive £175,000 is on offer for the winner here.

We'll have frame-by-frame action for you.

  • Wakelin vs Ding - head-to-head

Despite being a pro for nearly a decade - and Ding almost 20 years - Wakelin has only met Ding twice.

They met just a month ago in Wuhan, with the Englishman beating Ding 5-3 in the last 16, with three century breaks in that one.

That was their first meeting since the 2017 Scottish Open, which Ding won 4-2 in a last 64 clash.

  • Ding back on track

Ding had been struggling for a bit of form this season so far, while the former world No 1 has had a lean few years at the very top of the game.

Six of his 10 wins this season have come this week, while he has been absent from a couple of tournaments.

Ding is chasing his first ranking title since the 2019 UK Championship - he has lost three finals and two semis since - and a win will break a long wait for silverware from one of the game's best.

  • Wakelin into the top 16

Chris Wakelin is now into the top 16 in the world after his semi final win over Xiao Guodong on Friday.

He's also in line for the biggest payday of his career - win or lose.

Wakelin's previous biggest win was the £50,000 he netted for his win at the Shoot Out in October 2023.

He also secured £35,000 for reaching the final of the Northern Ireland Open last season.

But this tournament in Nanjing will allow Wakelin to win either the £175,000 top prize, or £75,000 should Ding take home the title.

  • Mink prefers Selby

Women's snooker star Mink Nutcharut faced Ronnie O'Sullivan earlier this week - but admitted she prefers Mark Selby's game.

Mink, the only female player to score a 147, lost 6-3 in a spirited effort against the sport's GOAT.

After the game she said: "Ronnie is the best, for me, in snooker. The best one is Ronnie but I can say my idol, for my style, is Mark Selby.

"I just play snooker in my style but I want to control myself, like him."

  • New tell-all Higgins book

Alex Higgins' best friend is planning to release a book that 'won't sugar coat' the former world champion's bonkers life.

Cecil Mason is said to have been one of those closest to The Hurricane and was pals with him from childhood on the Donegall Road in Belfast.

Higgins, who won world titles in 1972 and 1982, once headbutted a tournament director, was friends with notorious London gangsters the Krays and gambled away around £4million of career winnings.

He once urinated in a plant pot at the Crucible and even threatened to have Dennis Taylor shot.

  • 'I don't agree'

You may have missed it, but earlier this week Xiao Guodong raised eyebrows with his strange use of the spider in Nanjing.

Rather than use it directly, Xiao rested his hand on the spider to give himself a bridge and some leverage and ensure he did not touch another ball.

The move, which is perfectly legal, left WST commentator Martin Foulds unimpressed - and calling for a rule change.

He said: "This is… Now what’s happening here? He’s got the extension on [the table].

"Now he’s doing something which, I have to say, I don’t agree with.

"I know it’s perfectly legal. But I don’t think that’s the reason that the spider is in existence, so you can use it that way round."

After Xiao potted a red, Foulds added: "I don’t think that’s the purpose of the spider.

"But that’s not really for me, that’s for the rule-makers. It’s perfectly legitimate under the rules."

  • 'Hardest match of my life'

Just a reminder of Chris Wakelin's epic semi final win and how much it meant to him - as well as his pregnant partner.

“It’s so hard to explain the feelings. You work your entire life at this game for moments like this..."

  • 'My focus slipped'

Xu has been left lamenting that collapse in the second session but said he was "satisfied" with how his week had turned out.

The world No 49 said: "I was feeling good in the first session, but my focus seemed to slip in the second, and I made more mistakes.

"I had plenty of opportunities but struggled throughout, unable to get the positioning I wanted, and my safety play was quite average.

"Overall, aside from the second session in this match, I’m pretty satisfied with my performance in the tournament.

"Now my goal is to qualify for the Players Championship."
