Hong Kong issues red rainstorm warning, as city braces for heavy showers, possible floods
The Hong Kong Observatory issued a red rainstorm signal on Friday morning, warning residents to brace for widespread heavy downpours and possible flooding as an active southwesterly airstream approached the city.
The signal was upgraded at 10am, just 35 minutes after the forecaster issued an amber rainstorm signal.
The Observatory attributed the weather to an active southwesterly airstream that was bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong.
