I bought an old £2.5k ambulance and made it into a Glambulance – it’s raking me in a fortune
WHEN you are booking things for your wedding, you may not imagine an ambulance to be top of your list.
However, there’s much more to mum Kirsty Martin’s emergency vehicle than meets the eye - as her “Glambulance” is actually a mobile beauty business.
The beautician, from Faversham, Kent, realised she would have to get creative during lockdown when business dried up.
However, inspiration struck when she saw a £2,500 old ambulance being sold on Facebook Marketplace.
The vehicle had been used for a care home, but also starred in Coronation Street, but Kirsty was keen to give it a whole new lease of life.
Kirsty, who has worked in the beauty industry for a decade, decided that it could be the perfect solution to beauty salons being closed with Covid restrictions, and set about transforming it into a pink palace.
She stripped out the stretcher and medical cabinets, and added wooden panelling, mosaic tiles and Hollywood-themed mirror lights.
In total, glam Kirsty spent around £2,000 on pink spray and £4,500 on the rest of the fit, but it helped her to create her dream business-on-wheels.
And the best part is she can take her business to whatever event she wants to work.
Currently the Glambulance offers packages for kids parties, which cost from £200 and include nail painting, glitter make-up, glitter tattoos, and face masks.
She also does weddings from £150, and said: “We bring the Glamb van to you for the wedding morning to get you ready for your special day.
“Perfect for those of you who are pushed for space to get ready with your bridal party, whilst adding something a little different for those professional wedding shots.”
And you can hire the Glambulance out for private events such as hen dos, birthdays and festivals.
Kirsty added that while setting up the Glambulance was “a lot more complicated” than she had originally thought, it has been so successful that she’s moved out of her mum’s house.
Her new goal is to add more vans to her fleet in the future.
After sharing her story on TikTok on her @theglambulance account, thousands of people have commented on her clips.
One said: “This is unreal, so innovative.”
Another added: “This is actually genius.”
A third commented: “This is iconic.”
