I gave my grubby council house bathroom a mega makeover on a budget – here’s my top tip to save cash
A WOMAN has revealed that she has given her council house bathroom an epic makeover whilst on a budget.
26-year-old Celene Francis, a single mother who lives in a two-bedroom house in Rotherham, explained that she nabbed her bathroom buys from Victoria Plum and Wickes, as she gave a breakdown of the costs of her council house bathroom renovation.
Not only this, but the student midwife and mental health support worker also shared her top tip to save cash when it comes to home overhauls - so if your home could do with an upgrade, you’ll need to listen up.
Posting on social media, Celene shared the cost of her bathroom overhaul, which she transformed from drab to fab, as she said: “If you're new here, my name's Celine, I'm 26 and I live in a council house.
“Today I'm gonna be answering my most asked question - ‘how much did it cost for my bathroom?’”
Celene recognised that since she gave her bathroom a makeover, the cost of items has doubled.

She added: “So for the record, I've just been checking online and I'm not even joking, everything that I have bought has doubled in price. But I'm gonna show you anyway.
“So starting off with this radiator - I always wanted a black traditional radiator.
“I got this one from Bathroom Mountain and it's £140 for the measurements that I needed.
“Everything else is pretty much from Victoria Plum and the tiles are from Wickes."
Celene ripped out the old bath and replaced it with a trendy shower, as she claimed: “So for the shower, I got this from Victoria Plum, it came in a set - so you get the shower tray and you get the shower screen. This is now £399.
“And for the thermostatic shower system, it was £175.
“I also decided to buy another screen - it doesn't actually come with two.”
As she showed off her stylish tap, she continued: “I then went for this black tap. When I bought this, it was £50. It's now nearly £100 [£91.99].
“This was the toilet [£315] that I went for - I did want a nice toilet, so I splurged a little bit on the toilet.
“And finally, I bought this vanity unit [£329] from Victoria Plum as well.”

Celene then gave her followers a close-up look at her marble-effect tiles, as she concluded: “And last but not least, the tiles. I got these from Wickes.
“I actually got a bigger tile [£21.60] for the floor, and then I got a smaller tile [£18.36] for the wall.
“These are the prices per square meter, obviously it just depends on the size of the room.”
Celene then penned: “So for the bathroom I bought everything myself and then paid someone to fit it.
“This saved me so much money when doing it this way.”
