Temperatures in Hong Kong to drop to 12 degrees Celsius this weekend, lowest this winter
Hong Kong will record its lowest temperature yet this winter as the mercury is set to drop to 12 degrees Celsius or lower over the weekend.
The weather forecaster said on Wednesday a northeast monsoon would reach the southern coast of China at night, adding that temperatures over the coastal areas of Guangdong would fall progressively from the latter part of this week to early next week under its influence.
“It will be rather cool in the morning and at night. It will be cold over the inland areas,” the Hong Kong Observatory said.
“The northeast monsoon is expected to moderate progressively midweek next week, the weather over southern China will become fine and dry and daytime temperatures will rise.”
In a social media post published on Tuesday, the forecaster said it was possible that the cold weather might break the record for the lowest temperature in this year’s winter.
“The temperature in the New Territories is expected to drop another two to three degrees and reach the cold level, which is 12 degrees or below,” it said. “Remember to keep an eye on the weather and stay warm.”
