I got dress-coded while sight-seeing in Italy – I was showing an ‘offensive’ bit of skin, they made me cover up
A TRAVEL enthusiast has shared how she was dress-coded while taking in the sights on a trip to Italy.
They made her cover up because she was showing an "offensive" bit of skin while on her vacation.
Fashion designer Ariana Olivia Bolaños (@aoliviab) took her style abroad to Italy with unfortunate results.
She told viewers in a video how she was dress-coded for an outfit that showed an "offensive" amount of skin.
Ariana attempted to enter a famous church in Milan but unfortunately was told that she was not wearing the right attire.
She showed viewers her full outfit in the video as she stood outside the historic venue.
The fashionista wore white tennis shoes and denim shorts that came about mid-thigh and accentuated her body shape.
"When I got dress coded at the Milan duomo because my knees are showing," the subtitle over the visual read.
She attempted to conceal her frame with a modest white slightly see-through fabric that barely covered her.
Some people thought it was pretty obvious that she wasn't dressed appropriately.
"Because it is a Church miss girl. Like a mosque, temple, or synagogue. You have to respect it," a critic wrote.
"That’s why I’m wearing a modesty dress thing," Ariana replied.
"Hopefully this doesn’t offend someone," she wrote in the video caption.
The comment section was filled with people offering supportive feedback and additional information.
"Yeah, this happens at every famous church in Italy. You should do ur research before going," a TikTok user commented.
"Church dress code is different in every country, do not hate on someone who didn’t know. The Lord says come as you are," another positively added.
"This isn’t universal. I find it so strange how different Catholic Churches have different dress codes," another chimed in.
Other people have expressed their confusion and frustration about being dress-coded on a relaxing trip to Italy.
