Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Gabriel Martinelli injury latest, Gunners ‘three-man striker list for summer’, Osimhen TWIST

  • FT: Sheffield United 0-6 Arsenal

Arsenal destroyed Sheffield United with a score of 6-0 at Bramall Lane.

The Gunners led 5-0 by half-time thanks to goals by Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice as well as an own goal by Jayden Bogle.

A number of Blades fans left the stands during half-time before Ben White netted the Gunners' sixth.

The North Londoners remain third in the Premier League table with just two points separating them from highfliers Manchester City.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, remain bottom of the league with eight points away from safety.

Relive all the amazing action in the link below:

  • Fans walking out

Sheffield United supporters were seen pouring out of Bramall Lane after conceding three goals in just 15 minutes to Arsenal.

Blades fans looked to have had enough after watching their side ship goals with ease.

And it would seem that manager Chris Wilder had seen enough too as he unbelievably made a tactical substitution just moments after the third goal went in.

Oliver Norwood was hooked and replaced by Ben Osborne on the 17th minute as Wilder opted for damage limitation for his side.

  • Sheffield United 0-6 Arsenal

Ben White makes it six for Arsenal in the second half.

White hits the target in the 58th minute.

  • Carragher impressed with Arsenal

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal are the best defensive team in Europe.

At times, at the start of the season, I doubted whether Arsenal could win the league because of the lack of goals.

Yes, they have started scoring goals, but if you have a problem scoring to that, another solution to that is to be better defensively, and that is what they are.

I think right now, when I watch Arsenal, I think they are the best team defensively, not just in this country, but in Europe right now.

You look at the three teams in Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, you see the jump [in xG goal difference] from Aston Villa, who are having a brilliant season. That shows the quality by the three teams who are fighting for this title.

This is an indicator basically when you think of Manchester City over the last few years have been top of that, and the reason they have been top of that is because they go and win the league because they are the best team defensively and going forward.

For Arsenal to be there right now shows they have got a great chance of winning the title.

  • Chris Wilder pre-match comments

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder insists he isn't focusing on other Premier League strugglers when he takes on Arsenal.

Whatever is going on with Everton and Nottingham Forest, your job as a professional footballer is to keep going and my job as a professional football manager is to keep my team going to the final whistle on the final day.

We need to give our supporters something to shout about as we have not been good enough the last couple of games at home, so we need to make sure we approach the game in the right way.

It is brilliant to have three of those boys back [Tom Davies, Oli McBurnie and George Baldock] and Ben Brereton Diaz, who was a big signing for us in January and has missed a few games.

Davies, McBurnie and Baldock have all played in this division and so have experience of nights like these and they have won in nights like these.

  • Mikel Arteta's pre-match comments

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta fielded an unchanged side from the team that beat Newcastle 4-1 nine days ago at the Emirates but revealed he was "tempted" to make a few tweaks.

I was tempted [to make changes] because they give me the reason to do that in training every single day - but we start the game like this.

The consistency that we showed, how strong we have been defensively, conceding little and the determination and positivity to go forward pleased me a lot. We have had to face a lot of low blocks.

Sheffield United have made some changes as they lack certain people in the backline. We have to be adaptable. The players have to have adaptability to change during matches and understand where the change is going to be.

There are a lot of changes and you are watching the other games and hoping for certain results, but we have to focus on what we are doing and what we can control. We are winning football matches so let's see where it takes us.

At the moment, we have to win every single game. But first you have to earn the right to win it to give us the best chance to win the game.

Kvaratskhelia has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.

I am so happy with Napoli’s title and that my son Khvicha contributed to winning it.

I am grateful to Italy and Naples for having welcomed and appreciated him as a person and as a footballer.

He’s the only one who can choose whether to stay at Napoli, but I think he will continue wearing the Napoli shirt. In any case, I will respect his decision.

My family always love the atmosphere. They are excited and sing North London Forever.

Even me, when I’m on the pitch, or on the bench, when this song starts, I cannot avoid it, I’m joining in too.

  • Chelsea 'won't pursue' Ramsdale

Chelsea are not expected to pursue Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsdale in the summer transfer window.

The West Londoners have downplayed claims of their interest in the goalkeeper and instead remain committed to Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez as well as youngster Gabriel Slonina.

Chelsea's priority is signing a new striker, centre-back, full-back and potentially a midfielder if Conor Gallagher leaves.

  • Victor Osimhen latest

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have emerged as two main contenders to land Napoli star and Arsenal target Victor Osimhen this summer.

Osimhen carries a staggering release clause worth a reported €110million (94m).

According to The Independent, United see the 25-year-old as a sensible signing as they need another striker and a long-term investment.

PSG, on the other hand, need someone to replace Kylian Mbappe who is heading towards Real Madrid.

He said: "I see Arsenal at the moment as too strong. I see them confident.

“I know they lost against Porto, but I think in the Premier League nowadays they are two levels up and I believe that they know exactly what they’re doing.

“I’m sure they believe, and they’re pushing from the staff point of view to win this game more than anything because these games win titles.

“There’s a bit of everything but, at the moment, I see Arsenal a little bit too strong to be dropping points there.”
