  • Keane on celebration police

Manchester United legend Roy Keane defended Arsenal after they were accused of over-celebrating against Liverpool.

It happens but you can’t get carried away, but that’s the nature of the best.

Teams get excited and get giddy, we see it every week now. Obviously we saw Arsenal get criticised last week, but we see teams every week now [celebrate] when they get a big result.

Yes, celebrate and get photographs, but as we know, there’s a long way to go in that league challenge and you can’t get too carried away.

We know what football does to you, it kicks you in the teeth.

  • Well I Nev-er

Fans were shocked to discover that Manchester United legend Gary Neville hands out Man of the Match awards based on player stats.

Harry Maguire picked up the prize for his performance against Aston Villa on Sunday during United's 2-1 win.

That left some fans baffled with Roy Keane also sceptical of Neville's selection.

But it has come to light that Neville uses key match stats to pick his Man of the Match, and Maguire came out on top in several key areas.

No United player made more passes or won more duels, Maguire also won the most aerial duels and assisted Rasmus Hojlund's opener using his head.

The 30-year-old ranked second in tackles made and even made the most entries into the final third.

  • De Ligt latest

Manchester United have received a transfer boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt as he is reportedly unhappy in Germany.

De Ligt's future at Bayern is in doubt, having fallen down the pecking order under manager Thomas Tuchel.

The centre-back has made just 11 starts across all competitions this season as Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae are the preferred defensive pairing.

It has led to reports claiming the Netherlands international is unhappy with his lack of playing time.

There has also been suggestions that the 24-year-old's relationship with Tuchel has become strained and he could therefore push to leave this summer.

The Dutchman was an unused substitute as Bayern lost to title rivals Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 on Saturday.

The 53-year-old is now allegedly “set to recommend the 18-year-old be called into the next England Under-21 squad” during the next international break.

The same report also states that “Southgate could even name him in the senior squad for next month's friendlies against Brazil and Belgium” if he continues to impress for the Red Devils.

Al-Hilal captain Sergej Milinkovic-Savic lifted the MVP trophy and ex-Premier League ace Aleksandar Mitrovic was named Player of the Tournament.

As Mitrovic and Milinkovic-Savic collected their rewards, CR7 was filmed by a spectator walking off the pitch and heading straight to the tunnel.

Footage of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner making a hand gesture whilst making his early exit was uploaded to Twitter.

He said: “Absolutely. I think the last three or four weeks, of course, a striker needs a few goals to get that confidence, get that belief, and he has got that over the last four or five games.

“He looks a different player, he looks strong, he looks aggressive, he is taking his chances, he has got that desire to score goals. If you look at him, he is a big, strong boy.”
