Man Utd vs Chelsea LIVE: Latest Premier League updates as Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils host Blues in iconic fixture

  • Club feeling pressure from media

Man Utd banned a number of high-profile outlets from attending the media briefing prior to tonight’s game against Chelsea.

Andrew Ward, United’s communications director, confirmed that this was not due to them publishing stories they did not like but for not consulting the club for context before releasing stories.

It seems a very bizarre tact to take when the club is struggling to try and control the narrative being reported.

Ironically, the move will just heap more pressure on the manager and their under-performing squad.

  • Welcome to Man Utd vs Chelsea

Two giants of the English game who are struggling to find their form of seasons gone by meet at Old Trafford this evening, looking to try and turn the corner.

Former Chelsea player Mason Mount is unlikely to feature in the matchday squad as he has only just returned to training after a calf problem.

Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Amad Diallo and Jonny Evans remain on the injury list and are no closer to returning to playing action.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho remains out of contention as he remains in exile following his falling out with Erik ten Hag.

The manager will consider recalls for Rasmus Hojlund and Antony after the poor performances of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford against Newcastle.

For Chelsea, Reece James and Marc Cucurella are available again after serving suspensions while Conor Gallagher will be unavailable as he serves a one-match suspension as a result of his sending off against Brighton.

Cole Palmer will be hoping to make the starting XI while with James’ reintroduction, Pochettino may switch Disasi into a central position, giving Thiago Silva a well-earned rest.

Carney Chukwuemeka, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Malo Gusto, Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia all remain out.

Noni Madueke and Lesley Ugochuckwu have joined them in the treatment room as they have recently suffered muscular problems.
