Carpenter’s new album – Short n’ Sweet (see what she did there?) – is due out on August 23 this year. It will be her sixth album. There is an album presale this morning which allows access to the tickets for her show. You can find out more on her official website here. Stay tuned for a potted history of SC's career so far ... But just for the fun of it, here's another pic of her and Taylor.
... she’s dating Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn star Barry Keoghan? Oh, you knew that as well? Right, but did you know she generated huge controversy with her video for Feather, filmed in a Catholic church in Brooklyn after a priest was removed from administrative duties for agreeing to the shoot. Carpenter's response?: “Jesus was a carpenter.” … OK, you’re clearly a superfan.
Her perfectly weighted lyrics on Espresso are charismatically spiky – “I can’t relate to desperation/My give-a-f***s are on vacation” - while some music critics have suggested the track’s mangling of the English language – “walked in and dream-came-true’d it for ya” - keeps listeners on their toes (and presumably coming back for more).
Record breaker - what’s so special about Sabrina Carpenter?
Sabrina Carpenter broke records in the UK this year after her two latest singles stormed the charts.
The 25-year-old actress and musician, known for the Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, became the first female artist in Official Charts history to spend three consecutive weeks at number one and two concurrently.
She was named in June as the youngest female artist - at 25 - to hold the top two spots with Please Please Please and Espresso, at number one and two respectively.
In just one week in June, Please Please Please totalled 9.8 million combined streams, while Espresso came in second with 8.1 million. That’s impressive, and matches hitmakers The Beatles, who managed three consecutive weeks in 1963 with I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You claiming the top two spots.
