World-famous British musician Jan Latham-Koenig, 70, who was awarded an OBE charged with child sex offences
A WORLD-famous British conductor who was awarded an OBE has been charged with child sex offences.
Jan Latham-Koenig, 70, was arrested at Victoria train station in central London on Wednesday.
The internationally renowned conductor, who has performed at the BBC proms, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.
He is charged with arranging/facilitating a child sexual offence and sexual communication with a child.
Latham-Koenig regularly works with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has been music director at a number of prestigious orchestras around the world.

Most recently, he held the position at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and previously was artistic director of the Novaya Opera in Moscow.
In 2020, Latham-Koenig was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to music and UK/Russia cultural relations.
