Skincare superfan shares PSA about ’empty’ bottles – and a trick to always get more product out of serums & creams
A SIMPLE approach to using beauty products ensures that one skincare fan gets every last drop of pricey creams and serums.
He shared his wisdom, proving that "empty" bottles could be a gold mine.
Redditor Stikx_ called his approach a "public service announcement."
"Always break open your bottles when they're 'empty,'" he said.
He included a picture of his moisturizer which appeared nearly full when the packaging was disassembled.
"This is how much was left in the Cerave retinol bottle when the pump stopped pumping," he said.

HOW IT WORKS
Cutting open bottles to get the last bit of product out has been a technique to get the most out of skincare for a while.
While the origins are unsure, many use this approach during times of economic turmoil such as depressions or war.
Today, many skincare junkies are bringing the practice back because they're looking to get the full benefits of the product.
Stikx_ used the Cerave Retinol Resurfacing Serum, which is sold for $18.68 on Amazon.
It's a lightweight serum that works on acne-prone skin for a smoother complexion.
It also contains retinol, which had some skincare junkies concerned about exposing it to air.
Still, Stikx_ was surprised to see how much serum was still left in the bottle after the pump stopped working.
"I pretty much just cut it off because I didn't expect there to be much in there," he said.
Other Redditors expressed their thoughts in the comments section.
"You know, what you should do is send that photograph to the company who made it and ask them how they plan to redo the packaging so that this doesn't happen," one wrote.
"Any halfway decent company will send you a brand new one."
"I got makeup spatulas to dig down to the last of my retinol," another added. "I got two more weeks from it."
Yet another Redditor said they have been cutting up a different moisturizer to make it stretch longer.
"I’ve been doing this with my La Roche Posay moisturizer forever now," they wrote.

"The pump would stop working so I started cutting open the bottle and scooping it out into another container and I easily have at least one month [or more] left of moisturizer for my face."
"I am using this right now and thank you for the reminder," one more said. "I will do exactly this."
