My setting spray keeps your make-up flawless in pouring rain or for 24 hours straight – and it’s in the Superdrug sale

WE’VE all had that heart drop moment on a night out when we’ve checked our make-up in the mirror and it’s all over the place.

From cracked foundation and creased concealer to smudged lipstick and wonky eyelashes, keeping our make-up in place is serious business.

For longevity, most of us turn to setting spray - and it turns out, you don’t need to break the bank for your glam to stay in place until 3am.

One beauty whizz claims she’s found the ultimate drugstore setting spray that won’t budge your products even in the pouring RAIN.

Sharing a video of her dancing in major downpour on Instagram, Kylie Tuttle alleged that a £11.60 setting spray is perfect for even the most vicious weathers.

“It’s no secret that I wear pounds of make-up,” the LA-based influencer said.

“Please look how my make-up did not move in this pouring rain - I’m soaked, like drenched.

“The star of the show that night was a setting spray.

“I’m not gonna lie, I had myself a little worry getting into the uber when we were going to the next bar.

“I was like, ‘there’s no way I look good right now’ - but my face didn’t move!

“Also, if you’re gonna wear your make-up for more than 24 hours then this is the only setting spray that’s gonna work.

“Unfortunately, yes, I have worn my make-up for 24 hours.”

‘Better than Charlotte Tilbury!’ Beauty fans swear by £6 setting that keeps your makeup in place all day

The setting spray in question is Milani’s Make It Last Setting Spray Natural, which is currently reduced to £11.60 in Superdrug

It typically costs £14.50.

And while formulators of the product claim “you can enjoy up to 16 hours without a crease or smudge”, Kylie reckons you’ll get an extra eight hours.

What is in setting sprays?

Setting sprays typically contain a combination of ingredients that work together to help make-up last longer and stay in place.

  • All setting sprays contain fixatives. These are ingredients that help to adhere make-up particles to the skin, ensuring that they stay in place for longer periods without budging or smudging.
  • Most contain humectants, such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid, to help attract and retain moisture, keeping the skin hydrated and preventing make-up from drying out and looking cakey.
  • You'll also find emollients in setting sprays. These are moisturising ingredients that help to soften and smooth the skin's surface, reducing the appearance of fine lines and texture.
  • Some setting sprays even contain antioxidants such as vitamin E or green tea extract, which help to protect the skin from environmental damage and free radicals, keeping it looking healthy and radiant.

Using a setting spray after applying make-up offers more benefits than just keeping your glam in place.

Mattifying sprays are formulated to control excess oil production and prevent your complexion from looking greasy or shiny.

This is especially beneficial for those with oily or combination skin types.

Setting spray can also help to meld the layers of makeup together, giving your skin a more natural and seamless appearance.

Glow-focused ones can tone down any powdery or overly matte finishes, giving your skin a fresh, dewy glow.
