An airstrike killed an Iranian commander in Syria on Monday, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency. Brig. Gen. Seyed Razi Mousavi, a senior adviser to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed outside Damascus. The Revolutionary Guard Corps attributed the strike to the Israeli military, which declined to comment.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged during a visit to troops Monday in northern Gaza that Israel will continue military operations. “The war will continue until the end, until we finish it, no less,” he said, according to a statement from his office.
Families of hostages disrupted Netanyahu’s speech to parliament on Monday, calling for them to be brought home “now.” More than 100 hostages held in Gaza have been released since Oct. 7, but some Israelis are frustrated that more than 100 remain in captivity.
Hospital occupancy in southern Gaza, which now holds the majority of the enclave’s 2.1 million people, has soared to 350 percent, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Dozens of injured people die every day because of lack of capacity, the ministry said.
At least20,674 people have been killed in Gaza and more than 54,000 wounded since the war began, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. About 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
