Protests break out across the UK with windows smashed, bricks hurled & punches thrown – as Britain braces for more chaos

  • Police in riot gear at Liverpool demonstrations

    Objects have been thrown during chaotic scenes in Liverpool today.

    Cops are working to move the protest away as people wave banners which read "Not far-right just a father" and "Two Tier Keir".

    Around 1,000 demonstrators have gathered in the city.

  • Cops stand in between rival protestors in Leeds and Stoke-on-Trent

    Growing numbers of people are mounting outside the Leeds town hall and a local art gallery.

    Officers have formed a barrier to separate two groups of demonstrators.

    Far-right groups have been seen waving St George's flags, while a counter-protest held by Stand Up to Racism are holding banners which read "Say it loud and clear, refugees are welcome here".

  • Belfast demonstrations

    Far-right yobs have gathered outside a mosque and hurled objects at the press.

    Protestors have also smashed in the windows of a local cafe amid the escalating chaos.

  • Hotel windows smashed in Hull protest

    Protesters have smashed in windows of hotel used to house asylum seekers.

    Thugs have lobbed concrete bricks and glass bottles at the building while they shout "get them out".

  • Two men arrested in Manchester today

    Manchester Police have issued a Section 34 dispersal notice across the city centre giving officers extra powers until 7pm on Saturday.

    The force arrested two men under public order offences.

    Cops formed a divide between hundreds of protesters in an effort to prevent violence as mayhem swept through the northern city.
