Although the encounter didn't even take place at the school, the parent didn't hold back and told the teacher exactly what she thought of him.

Tel Williams, who goes by Mr Williams on social media, raged about the incident in his car after it happened.

"I just ran into one of my student's mums and she ringed me out," he said.

The teacher went on to explain since he wasn't working that day he went to the gym bright and early to get in a workout and then stopped to get petrol on his way home.

"I was drenched in sweat so I took off my shirt, and as I was driving home I realised I'm out of gas, I need to stop," he explained.

So, still shirtless, he filled his car up and spotted the parent at the petrol station and have her a polite wave.

She came came over and asked about his lack of shirt.

"I think we're gonna have some light banter and kind of giggle about this," he admitted.

But the mum had other ideas and slammed him as "wildly unprofessional" - even after he explained he'd just been at the gym.

The teacher totally disagreed with the mum, and hit back that it would only be unprofessional if he was at school, but since he wasn't working he didn't see it as an issue.

"I'm not even Mr Williams right now, I am Tel. I am a human being," he said.

I'm a young teacher - people lecture me on 'professional' clothes but I know how to look cute & still follow dress code

He added: "Why aren't we humanising teachers?"

Tel went on to say that even though he's completely professional when he's at school and working what he does in his time doesn't matter.

"When I'm clocked out, I am clocked out," he said, adding that parents should make more of an effort to see teachers as human beings.

Other teachers then chimed in the the comment section of the video to share their experience.

"My students ask me why I love so far from school. This is why," one wrote.

"I saw a parent at a bar once who said they would tell the principle, I said 'go ahead, they're right behind you'," a second commented.

And someone else said: "I saw my daughter's teacher at a bar and had a drink with her, lets normalise teachers being people."
