I created iconic kids TV shows like Rosie and Jim and Teletubbies – I’m shocked at how they’ve been twisted on TikTok
THE creator of some of the most iconic children's TV shows has revealed her shock at how they've been twisted online.
Anne Wood CBE is responsible for creating childhood classics such as Rosie and Jim, Teletubbies and Tots TV.
Rosie and Jim, which was jointly created by Anne and the late John Cunliffe, was a staple of the BBC's schedule in the 90s.
It ran for ten years before coming to an end in 2004.
However, clips of the iconic series, which follows puppets Rosie and Jim on their lake adventures have taken on a new meaning online to an adult audience.
It's left Anne, who is now 86, shocked and she's now spoken out on the memes

She said: "I’m more interested in young children’s reactions to things than I am in people looking back. I can’t stop it but I don’t have to get involved."
Anne continued: "I tried to make innocent fun and what worries me is people can twist that. That’s a pity."
She founded Ragdoll Productions, who are also behind the iconic Telebubbies series.
The show has recently found a brand new audience after being rebooted by Netflix bosses.
It originally aired on CBeebies from 1997 until it came to an end after five series.
Anne also recalled the time she came under fire from angry parents after a scene in Tots TV had children in floods of tears.
The scene involved Tom and Tilly throwing a surprise party for Tiny, but to keep it under wraps, they locked him out of their cottage.
Anne explained: "We thought we were writing a positive story about what would be a nice surprise, but half the nation’s children were in floods of tears.
"Boy, did we get complaints about that."
