She uploaded a video showing her jaw-dropping Greggs haul and added “hope my housemates are hungry.”

On her @elliee.jones_ account, she wrote: “Greggs Too Good To Go 2 x £2.59.”

The first thing Ellie found in the waste bag were 24 sausage rolls and eight pink doughnuts with sprinkles.

She also got four glazed doughnuts, four yum yums, two gingerbread men and two Belgian buns.

Meanwhile, the housemates were also set for their lunches for the next few days.

Ellie shared how they got two tuna and cucumber sandwiches, four cheese salad baguettes and one tuna baguette.

In total, she got 51 food items for just over a fiver.

Her video has racked up 49,000 likes, and people were highly impressed with her haul.

One person wrote: “your greggs must not be busy at all. I did too good to go and it wasn't this good.”

Another added: “How do you do this.”

And a third commented: “I want 24 sausage rolls.”

Meanwhile, one Greggs worker chimed in with their views, and said: “i work at greggs and you must off had someone in a good mood to get that much.”

Ellie replied: “Someone else in the comments said they usually put like £30 worth in each bag if they can so it doesn’t get binned!”

The Too Good To Go app aims to tackle the huge amounts of food that is thrown away as supermarkets get rid of food that’s about to go off, and restaurants and cafes don’t toss out things that aren’t fresh.

The idea is that stores sign up to sell magic boxes of about to go off items for a reduced price.

There are only a few boxes available every day so you need to be quick. The food is all close to expiry but you can freeze it, or cook something up and keep it for a few days more.

Morrisons was the first supermarket to trial it, with Aldi following suit.

As well as Greggs, you can also find Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero and Subway on the app.
