Tom Tugendhat knocked out of Tory leadership contest after MPs’ vote

Tom Tugendhat has become the latest candidate eliminated from the Conservative leadership contest in a vote among Tory MPs, leaving Robert Jenrick, James Cleverly and Kemi Badenoch to fight it out for the job.

Tugendhat finished fourth in the third round of MPs’ voting, a result that had been expected. Another round on Wednesday will leave a final two candidates, from whom Conservative members will select a winner in a ballot.
