I’m a DIY whizz and I gave my hallway a mega glow up in just one hour using a £3 buy from The Range – it was so easy
A DIY-SAVVY woman has wowed with her budget-friendly hallway transformation that took just an hour to complete.
Shanice Samuels used a £3 buy from The Range for the hack, which also helps to insulate the home.
Shanice routinely posts updates about her efforts to renovate her flat on the Facebook group DIY On A Budget Official, which has over 2 million members.
People were stunned when she shared a photo of her glam hallway transformation.
She opted for strips of draught excluder tape to create the illusion of expensive wooden panels.
Panelling is decorative but also helps to add a layer of insulation to rooms, keeping them warm for longer.

“I went in store at The range and they had draft tape down one of the decorating aisles,” she said.
Shanice used super glue to ensure the tape was firmly attached to her walls before painting with Dulux’s Pebble Shore Silk.
She has the “beautiful greige” colour throughout her home.
Almost 2,000 people liked a photo of the finished hallway and praised her “brilliant job.”
“Completed panelling with draught tape, £3 a pack took about 8 packs?” Shanice said.
“Took me an hour to do. I’ve sealed it and added some glue to harden it as it’s a soft/foam material.
“But as I am alone doesn’t need to be too hard wearing as not much ‘traffic’ coming through the hallway. The easiest thing ever !!!!!”
Impressed commenters revealed they were inspired to try the “genius” hack for themselves.
“Look so expensive now what a transformation,” one person said.
“Wow that looks beautiful, well done to you,” another commented.
Four cheap home renovation tricks
YOU don't have to spend loads to give a room a new look. Here are five other home renovation tricks you can try.
Kitchen cupboards
One way to give your kitchen a complete transformation for less is to change the look of the kitchen cupboards. There are loads of different vinyl coverings out there to choose from, and it's a quick and easy way to update your home.
Handles
Another thing you can try that won't break the bank is to change up the handles. You can pick up relatively cheap handles in DIY stores, or even in the charity shop. Adding new ones to your kitchen cupboards, or doors in your house, can be extremely effective.
Leftovers
Most of us have old half-used tins of paint in the garage, but they're often forgotten about. However, there may be enough in the pot to paint a feature wall in another room, and you won't have to spend a penny.
Freebies
It's worth checking your local Facebook Marketplace, or Freecycle, to see what other people are getting rid of. As they say, one person's trash is another person's treasure. And if someone's planning to revamp a room, they might want to get rid of a sofa, or a coffee table, which you could use to give a lounge a new look.
“Omg been wanting to do mine for so long. You’ve given me inspiration. Well done looks amazing,” a third chimed in.
“What a fantastic idea, well done,” another added.
Shanice responded to a commenter who was curious how she got perfect edges.
“I didn’t wrap them around as it made the foam material go flat!” she said.

“So I measured the small bits and cut to square it off.
“I added more superglue to these bits to kinda mould them together! Hope that makes sense.”
