Premier League set for transfer merry-go-round as Newcastle ‘hold positive talks with Guehi but must sell star first’
NEWCASTLE are closing in on a deal for Marc Guehi and it could spark a transfer merry-go-round, according to reports.
The Toon had a second bid worth £50million for the centre-back rejected by Crystal Palace last week.
But negotiations between the two clubs are continuing and Newcastle are set to make another offer.
The I report that discussions have been "positive and optimistic" despite a £10m difference remaining in valuation.
Guehi is supposedly open to the move and personal terms are not thought to be an issue.
But reports suggest Newcastle may have to sell in order to balance the books amid pressure to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Newcastle offered Anthony Gordon to Liverpool earlier in the window and they remain keen on the winger.
But manager Eddie Howe insists he is committed to the club, saying: "His mind is on Newcastle. He has been exceptional, focused on his work, fitness, everything to do with this football club. No distractions.
“So I won't talk about individual players but naturally, with incomings there will be outgoings as well.
"What I mean by that, I don't mean literally everyone has a for sale sign on their head.

But Newcastle have so far found it difficult to shift the trio as Almiron and Trippier have been on international duty, while Wilson is out injured for a month.
