GB News show with Sunak broke broadcasting rules, Ofcom finds
GB News could face punishment after a programme with Rishi Sunak was found to have broken broadcasting rules.
Regulator Ofcom said it is "starting the process for consideration of a statutory sanction against GB News" after finding that a "People's Forum" featuring the prime minister breached broadcasting impartiality guidelines.
In response to Ofcom, GB News said: "Ofcom's finding against GB News today is an alarming development in its attempt to silence us by standing in the way of a forum that allows the public to question politicians directly."
The episode received 547 complaints and was "presented in the context of the forthcoming UK general election", Ofcom said.
It said "due weight" should have been given to an "appropriately wide range of significant views" other than the Tories' - either in the programme itself or "in other clearly linked and timely programmes".
