First look at new hotel at theme park that’s ‘just as good as Disneyland’

A THEME park in the Netherlands is promising to rival Disneyland with its brand-new hotel.

The Wonder Hotel will be the first to open inside the walls of Efteling in Kaatsheuvel.

Opening this summer, the seven-floor property has promised to offer luxury whilst sticking to the fairytale theme of the park.

As well as 140 rooms, there will be a spa, swimming pool, high-end shops and two restaurants.

First opened in 1952, the theme park is 180 acres and has been hailed as the best theme park in Europe.

One of the restaurants, Brasserie 7, dishes up tasty food with seven "magical" ingredients such as dragons breath and fairy dust.

According to the hotel's PR team, the second eatery Mystique, which offers a more relaxed dining experience, provides guests with an "evening of discovery of flavours".

There is also a Cafe Biscuit coffee bar for eager families who want to get straight on the rides.

The Aquanura looks like something from Wicked, with stunning blue and white tiles and arch-shaped frosted windows.

Nicole Scheffers, Efteling’s director of park and resorts, said last year: “We have worked very hard behind the scenes and I am proud that our guests can finally see how special the Efteling Grand Hotel is going to be.”

The beautifully designed bedrooms overlook the Fairytale Forest and feature plush bedding and calming tones.

The hotel is currently closed for the huge renovations but will reopen in the summer.

“The Efteling Wonder Hotel stands out from our other overnight stay locations through strong theming.

"The hotel, with its boundless wonder, is our very own floating castle of fairytales,” added Scheffers.

Some of the scariest rides at the park include Baron 1898, which has a 120ft free-fall drop into a mineshaft that travels at 55mph, while Python features a double loop and corkscrew.

And double-track rollercoaster Joris en de Draak lets passengers speed past a 39ft fire-breathing dragon.

The theme park is also home to the world's largest swinging ship, a monorail, and an 100-year-old steam carousel.

Day tickets for Efteling for anyone over the age of four range from €38 to €51 depending on the day of visit.

Kids under three go free, with discounts for school trips and larger groups.

To get to the park, Brits can hop on the Eurostar at London St Pancras, and then drive an hour from Amsterdam.

Otherwise flights to Eindhoven are around £14 with Ryanair, with the park around 30 minutes by car.
