United still keen on De Jong

Manchester United are reportedly keen on returning for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong after much speculation in the summer.

According to Spanish outlet Nacional the Red Devils are prepared to submit an offer worth £77.5million to sign the 26-year-old.

It is said that Man Utd feel that could take advantage of Barcelona's economic problems by offering a bid they won't be able to refuse.

While the Premier League club are understood to be ready to splash the cash on de Jong's salary too to convince him to leave Barcelona.

United in talks over new deals

Erik ten Hag has revealed that his side are in talks with Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane over new deals with the club.

The pair have both been linked with moves away from Old Trafford, but now look set to stay with the Dutch boss publicly announcing th4 club's intentions.

He said: "We are talking with Raphael Varane and with Anthony Martial, I think that is an internal discussion between the club and the players."

The news comes after the Red Devils announced contract extensions for Hannibal Mejbri, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof.

Bailly opens up on horror Man Utd spell

Eric Bailly has spoken out about his time at Manchester United in an interview with The Athletic.

The 29-year-old, who now plays for Villarreal, struggled with injuries during his spell at Old Trafford and has opened up about how they impacted his confidence.

He said: "You feel helpless because you can’t change anything when you’re injured.

"You don’t want to feel worthless but that’s exactly what you feel. You want to get back training but at the biggest clubs there’s huge competition."

Diallo options lining up

Manchester United have got a number of options for Amad Diallo with both Sunderland and Leicester City still keen on signing the winger, according to HITC.

The 21-year-old featured for the first time this season last weekend against Nottingham Forest after he was ruled out at the start of the season with a knee injury.

Diallo spent last season on loan with Sunderland, but the prospect of joining high-flying Leicester could prove tempting.

Ten Hag shares team news

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Andre Onana will be involved for the Reds against Wigan Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup on Monday.

The Cameroon international was recently called up to his nation's squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, with on-loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat also being selected for Morocco.

Ten Hag said: "So, we're talking with [the] Cameroon Federation. It was an issue during the talks with Andre when he came in here, and it's constructive, so we will see.

"I don't know yet [if he will be with us for the Tottenham game on 14 January] but he will be there for the game against Wigan.

"I think we will have, more or less, the same squad as against Nottingham Forest"

United close to first January signing

Manchester United are close to making Bayern Munich star Eric Choupo-Moting their first signing of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era.

According to Bild, the striker is set to join on loan until the end of the season.

Choupo-Moting has scored two goals in the Bundesliga this term and most of his minutes have come off the bench.

United to bid for striker

Manchester United are ready to activate the release clause of Stuttgart striker Guirassy this month.

The fee is believed to be worth £15.1million so he could prove to be a cheap option.

Guirassy has been in fine form this season 17 goals in just 14 Bundesliga games.

PSG want Man Utd target

Paris Saint-Germain are looking set to be one of the clubs in the race for the transfer of Lille wonderkid Leny Yoro this summer, according to French football expert Jonathan Johnson.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Johnson made it clear how exciting a talent Yoro is, and that he expected there would likely be a lot of demand for the 18-year-old defender this summer.

Johnson acknowledged links with top Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United, whilst also revealing that PSG like the player a lot as well.

United target Chelsea flop

Manchester United are considering a shock move for former Chelsea forward Timo Werner, according to The Mirror.

The Germany international had mixed success at Chelsea, whom he left to rejoin RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022.

Werner has only scored two goals in 14 appearances in all competitions this term, but United still think he could do a job in Manchester.

United explain Reguilon loan ending

Manchester United have revealed why they cut short Sergio Reguilon's loan from Tottenham.

He played just 12 games for Erik ten Hag's men and made little impact at Old Trafford.

And with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia set to return soon from their respective injuries, they do not feel Reguilon would be given sufficient game time during the second half of the campaign.

A club statement read: "Sergio fulfilled the role he was brought in for: to provide cover for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia while both were out with long-term injuries.

"While Luke has missed the past two games with a minor injury, the England international is expected back soon. Tyrell, meanwhile, is getting closer to a return from his knee injury.

"The versatile Diogo Dalot can also provide further cover at left-back.

"With fewer games in the second half of the season and injured players returning, there will be less opportunity for Sergio to play.

"It was decided it was in the best interests of all parties for Reguilon to return to Spurs."

Bayern plot move for United target

Bayern Munich are reportedly lining up a move for Manchester United target Serhou Guirassy.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding Guirassy's future in recent weeks, with Manchester United said to be exploring the possibility of bringing him to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, both Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are thought to be keen on a player who has a £15.1million release clause in his contract at Stuttgart despite only joining the club on a permanent basis last summer.

According to Bild, Bayern are huge admirers of Guirassy and are planning to make a move for him at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Reguilon shared Man Utd gratitude

Sergio Reguilon says it was "a privilege" to play for Manchester United after the Red Devils ended their loan agreement and sent him back to Tottenham.

United activated the break clause in his season-long loan so he has returned to North London.

Reguillon took to social media to share his gratitude for the months he spent at Old Trafford.

He said: "It was a privilege to play for this huge club. I wish all the best for the Red Devils."

United eye Ten Hag replacement

Manchester United have informally sounded out Graham Potter with a view to the former Chelsea boss replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

While appointing a sporting director and new CEO is a priority, there are strong question marks over Ten Hag’s future at the club.

INEOS would prefer to leave Ten Hag in place until at least the end of the season to see if United can turn around their form as the likes of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez return to fitness.

But there is an acceptance that results of late cannot continue and ESPN say Potter has been ‘informally’ sounded out about his availability.

Amad is grateful for the support of his Manchester United team-mates after making his eagerly awaited return from injury against Nottingham Forest.

He said: "I can come back stronger. Come back with more motivation to help the team because we need to win every game. United need to win every game. We are a big, big team so everyone needs to fight for the team. So I come back stronger, ready and motivated.

"My programme was to come in every morning to have treatment and, after that, to go to the gym to make the work on my upper body and legs. That's what my plan was for when I was injured.

"Lisandro Martinez helped me a lot because he was injured also. Every time, when we are at training, he spoke with me and said: 'It's nothing, Amad. Keep training hard'. Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro also. They are good leaders. Everyone helped a lot. The physios helped me a lot. So now, thanks God, I am back with the team. I am very happy."
