EVERY morning viewers love having Sally Nugent waking them up on BBC Breakfast with the latest news of the day.

But fans hoping to see her today (December 5, 2023) may have wondered why she was missing from the show.

Sally Nugent was missing again from her usual slot on BBC Breakfast on December 5, 2023.

The broadcaster usually hosts the show Monday to Wednesday from 6am until 9am.

However, Sally has been missing from the show for a few days, prompting fans to question why.

But The Sun has now exclusively revealed the reason for the popular presenter's absence.

Sally agreed with bosses that she could take a week off from BBC Breakfast in order to focus on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

Since landing the Strictly gig she has been juggling hosting BBC Breakfast as well as training with her pro-partner Graziano Di Prima.

A source said: "Sally is so excited to have been asked to take part in the Strictly special this year.

"She's been putting her all into the rehearsals with Graziano and the pair have clicked.

"With the recording of Strictly taking place at Elstree Studios in London on Tuesday night it wasn't practical for Sally to be on BBC Breakfast which is based in Manchester.

"Dress rehearsals and other filming commitments with the show meant she was needed in London."

Who has replaced Sally Nugent on the BBC Breakfast show?

Sally has left her top presenting role in good hands.

Covering her shift alongside Jon Kay is BBC journalist and newsreader Tina Daheley.

Tina is known for reading the news on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball.

Her other work includes BBC News At Ten and BBC News At Six.

In 2019, she became the voiceover presenter of Points Of View.

When will Sally Nugent return?

The Sun understands Sally will be back on air from next week.

This mean she will be back on the famous red sofa on Monday, December 11, 2023.

You can catch Sally in her usual slot from 6am until 10am.

When did Sally Nugent start presenting BBC Breakfast?

Sally joined BBC Breakfast on a freelance basis in 2011.

She was previously known for filling in when the show's main presenters were off.

But now she has the coveted Monday to Wednesday slot.

Speaking about her promotion Sally said in a statement:  “I’m absolutely thrilled.

"It’s an honour to take the reins from Louise and be part of the UK’s most watched breakfast show.”
