I went to the UK’s biggest Cadbury shop with a huge 850g Dairy Milk bar, rare chocolates and unbeatable deals

WHEN I visited the UK's biggest Cadbury shop, I was in my element.

As an avid Dairy Milk fan, I was thrilled to see the UK’s largest range of Cadbury chocolates for myself.

The store in Bourneville, Birmingham, flung open its doors last week after a major remodel - and it's now the UK's biggest Cadbury world shop.

It is much bigger than before and has a new layout.

There are 350 items on offer, including many products and deals you can’t get anywhere else.

Although you can buy Cadbury products online or at one of its outlets, this is the only factory shop in the UK.

Shoppers can get their hands on giant 850g bars of Dairy Milk, Freddo multi-packs and popular Mis Shapes.

There is also a selection of handmade chocolates including a Christmas tree, teapot and football which are made on-site by master chocolatiers.

In the shop, there are lots of bargains to be had if you happen to be in the area.

Plus you don’t need a ticket to visit the shop or cafe.

The store is certainly proving popular with customers.

Barrie Oldridge, retail manager at Cadbury World, said there was a queue of people outside when it reopened last week.

Which chocolate bars have been discontinued in the UK?

He said: “In the early morning people queued outside to come and use the shop on the first day.

“A lot of people come to Cadbury World for the deals. People often come in off the street as they know we offer good prices.”

When I visited on Monday afternoon the shop was absolutely heaving.

In the corner, a group of schoolchildren were picking out ten chocolate bars for just £6.

What deals are on offer?

Here we round up the best deals in the Cadbury shop:

  • Ten Freddo for £1.70 - saving £1.80
  • Treatsize Fudge £3 - saving 69p
  • Ten Fudge for £1.70 - saving £1.80
  • Ten Curly Wurly for £1.90 - saving £1.60
  • Roses Carton £3.50 - saving £1.50
  • Heroes Carton £3.50 - saving £1.50
  • Two Hollow Santas for £3 - saving £1.98
  • Toblerone £4.75 each - saving £2.75
  • Dairy Milk 850g £7.50 - saving £3.99
  • Dairy Milk 360g £4.50 - saving £1
  • Ten Standard Bars for £6 - saving £1.50
  • Three Chocolate Share Bags for £3.30 - saving £3.27

Meanwhile, a couple at the till told the cashier that they had travelled from Manchester to visit the museum and shop.

Oldridge said customers travel from the North or Cornwall to visit the shop.

He said: “Sometimes you’ll chat to people and they will say that they are coming to the shop on the way home.

“We also get a lot of people coming in off the street just to shop at Cadbury World.”

It’s easy to see why.

The store is colourful and spacious, with decorations inspired by some of Cadbury’s most popular products.

There’s a giant Flake with rows of shelves which are full to the brim with packages of the chocolate.

Meanwhile, in another corner, a giant box of Roses holds hundreds of cartons of the popular Christmas treats.

Previously there were two till areas but these have been merged into one checkout, which makes the shop feel much bigger.

The shop’s remodel comes after an £8 million investment from Merlin Entertainments, which owns Cadbury World.

The money has also been spent on a Chocolate Quest ride, Have A Go zone and Bourneville Experience.

In the store, prices start from less than £1 and there are many deals to be had.

Chocolate bars including Dairy Milk, Picnic and Caramel usually cost 75p but shoppers can pick up ten for £6.

Meanwhile, Freddo, Caramel Freddo and Fudge typically cost 35p each but ten of them can be bought for £1.70 - saving you £1.80.

A treatsize bag of Fudge would usually set you back £3.69 but they can be picked up for £3 in the factory shop.

Or you can nab two bags for £2.50.

If you enjoy splitting a box of chocolates at Christmas then you could also make a serious saving.

Two Milk Trays can be picked up for £9 - saving you a whopping £7.98.

Plus Heroes and Roses cartons are on offer for £3.50 each, knocking £1.50 off the regular price.

I spotted many 850g bars of Dairy Milk in shoppers’ baskets.

The chocolate slabs usually cost £11.49 each but they were on offer at Cadbury World for £7.50, or you could pick up two for £14.

Oldridge tells me the shop makes 11% of its profit from those bars alone.

I’m sure that will only increase in the run up to Christmas.
