  • Greenwood sent off for EIGHT-MAN Getafe

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood was one of THREE Getafe players sent off in tonight's home LaLiga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

The forward got a straight red for dissent just after half time with Getafe 2-0 down.

After appealing for a foul, Greenwood appeared to shout at the referee. The official then immediately showed him a red card and pointed to the dugout.

Greenwood's dismissal saw Getafe go down to nine men.

  • Rain before reign on Sir Jim's first visit

EXCLUSIVE: Sir Jim Ratcliffe has vowed to get used to the Manchester rain after being greeted by a downpour during his first visit to Old Trafford since his minority share takeover was revealed.

The billionaire businessman spent two hours at Old Trafford chatting with executives before departing.

When offered a welcome and asked what he thought about the torrential rain, he laughed and said: “I’ll have to get used to it!”

Ratcliffe first walked into the main entrance smiling protected from the Manchester rain by a security guard wielding an umbrella.

The Ineos boss, who agreed a deal on Christmas Eve to take a 25 per cent share in the club and to take control of football operations, met with key United staff including interim CEO Patrick Stewart and Chief Operating Officer Collette Roche.

The group - which didn't include any members of the Glazer family - took a working lunch and spent time discussing initial ideas to improve United’s fortunes on the pitch.

Sir Jim and his Ineos team can’t have an active role in running United until the deal is ratified next month.

He must first pass the Premier League’s fit and proper person test and his acquisition of Class-A shares is approved by the New York Stock Exchange.

  • Varane vs Maguire stats as Frenchman heads out

Raphael Varane is poised to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer - but how do his stats compare with fellow Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils have rejected the chance to trigger a 12-month extension, meaning Varane is now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs this month.

Since the start of 2021-22, the Frenchman has played 79 for United, compared to Maguire's 85.

He has registered a higher percentage of passing accuracy, more clearances, a higher rate of aerial success and a higher rate of duel success than his United counterpart.

Varane has also conceded fewer fouls and fewer goals than the England international at club level.

He has made NO errors leading to goals, while Maguire has made two.

However, the ex-Leicester hero stands out in some key areas.

The £80million man has made more tackles, more interceptions and has won possession more times than his French team-mate.

And most importantly, Maguire has a better win percentage with 59% compared to Varane's 53%.
