  • Man Utd could be 'overtaken'

Alan Shearer has claimed that Manchester United could be overtaken in terms of league titles by Liverpool next season.

He told Betfair: "The target for Liverpool and Slot is always to win the Premier League and to win every trophy.

"That's the football club that they are and you have to do it at Liverpool.

"It's been an amazing season for them. There were the disappointments of how they went out of the cups but that happens.

"Winning league titles is what Liverpool are all about. They've won number 20 now and will be looking to win number 21.

"Man United have 20 titles too, but they are miles away from winning the Premier League so Liverpool won't have to worry about United winning number 21 for a while. Liverpool will be a lot closer to it next season than United will be."

  • Ange - 'Europa bigger than FA Cup

Ange Postecoglou has suggested that if Tottenham win the FA Cup, it would be a bigger achievement than Manchester United's FA Cup win last season.

He said: “I’ve sensed this is the way this club is perceived — people are always trying to diminish it.

"I’ve heard people say, ‘Well, it’s the equivalent of United winning the FA Cup.

"No, it ain’t. Not on any planet is it the equivalent.”

The 34-year-old could now be returning to the Theatre of Dreams in August.

United will host De Gea's club Fiorentina on Saturday, August 9 in a pre-season friendly.

  • A-Mad fer it

Amad Diallo has given Manchester United a huge injury boost ahead of their crunch Europa League tie on Thursday.

Ruben Amorim's side are preparing to face Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.

Diallo has been out of action for the Red Devils since suffering an ankle injury in early February.

But he returned to the Carrington training pitch on Wednesday as the squad prepares to jet to Bilbao.

Diallo's status for tomorrow's match has not yet been confirmed.

He could however feature this weekend as United take on Brentford in the Premier League.

  • Hall of fame snub

Ryan Giggs has opened up recently, and said he was upset at being left out of the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The Welsh midfielder is regarded as one of the best of his generation, and of all time.

Controversy off field has followed him recently, but there is no doubting how good a player he was.

  • Hojlund must score 'many more' goals

Ruben Amorim has told Rasmus Hojlund he has to score “many more” goals for Manchester United ahead of their Europa League crunch.

United rescued a point at ten-man Bournemouth as Hojlund’s 96th-minute leveller cancelled out Antoine Semenyo’s 23rd-minute opener.

The striker had scored just twice since December and has nine goals all season, including four in the Premier League.

  • More on Collyer

Toby Collyer came out well before the rest of the first-team squad as he continues his rehab from a muscle injury with an individual session with a fitness coach, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The newspaper reports the 21-year-old went through a series of high-intensity running and mobility drills as he works his way back to fitness, having missed a month of action with the injury.

Collyer was beginning to catch Amorim's eye before his injury, and the head coach emerged before the start of the session to check in on the player.

  • Trust the process

United boss Ruben Amorim believes short-term pain will play out in favour of long-term success at Old Trafford.

Amorim explained: "In January we lost players and didn't bring in new ones. That was a risk.

"But there are things here that are more important than scoring 10 more goals this season.

"We are trying to do something that is more important. We can hurt the squad now but in the future it will help the club."

The Welsh club celebrated promotion to the Championship over the weekend after Leyton Orient beat Wycombe Wanderers.

  • Double de Ligt – players return

Amad Diallo has returned to training, writes Fabrizio Romano, with Matthijs de Ligt back too.

Amad and de Ligt reportedly part in Manchester United training ahead of tomorrow's clash with Athletic Bilbao.

Amad picked up an ankle injury in training in February and Ruben Amorim feared he could be ruled out for the rest of the season, but the winger has made substantial progress in his recovery.

The 22-year-old's rehabilitation has gone well and he could be available to face Athletic Bilbao on Thursday night. De Ligt could also be involved for the first time since he picked up an ankle injury in the defeat to Nottingham Forest on April 1.
