Masters snooker final 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Shaun Murphy LEADING Wilson as Magician edges closer to £350k jackpot – updates

  • Kyren Wilson 5-8 Shaun Murphy (24-1)

Wilson gets himself into a decent position in the frame once again.

However, after missed pot, the frame turns into a series of safety shots once again.

It is all down to who makes the first mistake in this one now.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-8 Shaun Murphy (101-0)

Wilson does well to seal the frame but cannot get the century.

There was one difficult red which he had the perfect angle to go into potting the pink but got an unfortunate double kiss on it.

Despite that, he moves to within three frames of Murphy.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-8 Shaun Murphy (58-0)

A superb long red sets up Wilson for another break.

He is controlling the cue ball so well in this frame.

Murphy can only sit and watch, he has done little wrong, but this is what happens when you play a world champion.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-8 Shaun Murphy (23-0)

Wilson is desperately unlucky as he pots the black and goes into the pack of reds.

He splits them up well but unbelievably there is nothing on at all.

The pack is spread all over the table but it is all about leaving that cue ball near the baulk cushion to try and leave nothing on for your opponent.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-8 Shaun Murphy (7-0)

Here we go, we are back underway at Ally Pally.

We are either going to see Murphy get over that line to win his second Masters title or the greatest comeback ever in a major event.

Wilson sinks a long red after the Murphy break, he needs to build something from here.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-8 Shaun Murphy

We are approaching the business end of this final now.

With Murphy only needing two frames for victory, it seems unthinkable for Wilson to win this match.

However, you can never better against a current world champion and this first frame of the final session will be critical to see who is going to get their hands on the Paul Hunter Trophy.

  • Shaun Murphy leads Kyren Wilson 8-4 at interval

  • Kyren Wilson 4-7 Shaun Murphy (14-75)

That missed black is going to cost Wilson dearly.

Murphy is currently on a break of 66 and has secured this frame.

He will need just two more frames to take the title.

The break comes to an end but Murphy takes the frame.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-7 Shaun Murphy (14-9)

Well, what a miss by Wilson.

He seemed to do all the hard work, fashioning shots from difficult positions but then gets a fairly simple black into the middle of wrong as it clips the knuckle and misses.

This is a huge chance for Murphy to take the last frame before the interval.

  • Kyren Wilson 4-7 Shaun Murphy (0-9)

The last frame before the mid-session interval is a nervy one.

Despite all bar one of the reds being spread out on the table, both players are trying to play safety shots to test their opponent.

Wilson puts in a long red and has a real chance of amassing a break now.

  • Kyren Wilson 3-7 Shaun Murphy (101-0)

A break of 95 gives Wilson his highest of this final.

The brown proved to be a problem and as he tried to get position on the cue ball for the blue, it nestled behind the pink to snooker him.

Either way, he claws another frame back.

  • Kyren Wilson 3-7 Shaun Murphy (75-0)

Wilson is on a break of 69 and looks set to rack up a century.

The frame is his and he can relax and enjoy his snooker now.

He is not giving up on this final just yet.

  • Kyren Wilson 3-7 Shaun Murphy (10-0)

From the break, there is one loose red which offers Wilson a potting opportunity early in the frame.

With the reds still so grouped together, options are limited and he can only add a small number of points.

Murphy looks to play safe but Wilson rifles in a long red to open up another chance to get points on the board.

  • Kyren Wilson 3-6 Shaun Murphy (8-125)

    Fantastic stuff from Shaun Murphy.

He gets a brilliant 125-break to win the frame in convincing fashion.

That will help Murphy after losing the first frame of the session.

  • Kyren Wilson 3-6 Shaun Murphy (8-54)

Murphy has a real chance to establish his four frame lead again.

You kind of feel he needs a reply after Wilson won such a convincing frame to open the session.

The clustered reds in the middle of the table were the issue but Murphy pots the black and goes nicely into the pack.

  • Kyren Wilson 2-6 Shaun Murphy (99-5)

Wilson manages to take the first frame of the evening.

Murphy was very unlucky with a kiss on a red obscuring the black and he struggled after that.

He tried a tricky pot, which rattled in the pocket, allowing Wilson to clear up and give himself a glimmer of hope in this final.

  • Kyren Wilson 2-6 Shaun Murphy (54-0)

Murphy is struggling to rediscover his form from this afternoon.

He has left a number of chances for Wilson but he has not taken advantage to claw a frame back in the match.

Wilson is at the table once again and should put this frame to bed now.

  • Kyren Wilson 2-6 Shaun Murphy (41-0)

Murphy plays a loose shot and leaves Wilson a choice of reds.

Wilson taks advantage and has to keep taking the cue ball up to the baulk colours to keep this going.

He has had to play a couple of shots with the extension but seems to be cueing well.

  • Kyren Wilson 2-6 Shaun Murphy (0-0)

We are back underway in the Masters final.

Wilson did not look a happy man as he walked down the stairs to the table, it almost seemed as if Murphy was living in his head rent-free.

Murphy takes on an early long pot but is a long way off, getting lucky that he has not left anything on.

This is what all these players dreamts of, the final session of the Masters final.

For Shaun Murphy, he is within touching distance of the Paul Hunter Trophy.

Leading 6-2 against Kyren Wilson from the afternoon session, it is his trophy to lose now.

  • Ammunition?

Ken Doherty thinks Shaun Murphy's final bit of showmanship in the afternoon session might just light a fire in Kyren Wilson's belly heading into tonight.

With the final frame of the first session already in the bag, Murphy played to the crowd by moving the black ball over the corner pocket using his hand, much to the crowd's delight.

"That last bit of showmanship from Shaun Murphy was great for the crowd, but Kyren Wilson will absolutely be livid," Doherty said.

"You don't want to give your opponent any ammunition to get him going but that will - so it'll be interesting to see how Kyren comes out tonight."

    • Shaun Murphy - 1/4
    • Kyren Wilson - 3/1
  • Comedy of errors

1997 world champion Ken Doherty: "It's just been a comedy of errors from Kyren for some reason today.

"He was imperious last night against Judd Trump but there have been a few uncharacteristic misses - simple shots, not really difficult ones.

"It's the easy ones that are costing him and Shaun has gone from strength to strength, he's played really well."
