Hole 4 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-10)
The par 3 fourth hole next and McIlroy retakes the honour off the tee.
WONDER SHOT! McIlroy's shot is pin high, 12ft to the left of the pin! Sensational shot from the leader.
DeChambeau tasked with following that after his bogey in the hole before.
A really poor strike off the clubface. He's gone long and left, off the green. That's going to be some test to get that close!
-
Hole 3 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-10)
LEAD CHANGE!
Rory is back in the lead as Bryson's 7ft putt stays low the whole way up the hill.
"Come on Rory!" is the shout as Bryson picks his ball up out the hole.
This all after McIlroy took driver off the tee and DeChambeau laid up. There's a lesson in there somewhere....
-
Hole 3 – McIlroy (-11) DeChambeau (-11)
BIRDIE MCILROY!
The hole catches the McIlroy putt as it drops in at dead weight. JUST!
Wow, what a noise around this third green too!
That comes after DeChambeau's birdie putt rolled 7ft by. Little tester for him coming back up the hill....
-
Hole 3 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-11)
DeChambeau doesn't quite have the depth with his approach having laid up off the tee and the spin back takes it away from the pin further.
He does just about stay on the green but it's a quick, tester for birdie he'll have.
McIlroy knocks his into the bank and lets it release 8ft beyond the pin. A really tidy shot from him which will surely settle him down.
Two chances at birdie here but McIlroy's by far the better opening.
-
Hole 4 - Aberg (-7) Day (-5)
Aberg with a great tee shot into the 4th hole and a 15ft putt for birdie on the par 3.
That one slides by and he remains at -7, with playing partner Jason Day starting with four pars.
-
Hole 3 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-11)
An iron off the par 4 third hole for Bryson, who plays down the left and short of the bunkers.
McIlroy with driver behind him and he bombs one right down the right side at it scurries down the fairway and only 30 yards off the green, down below the dancefloor.
Two different plays as the hunter/hunted dynamic switches.
-
Hole 2 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-11)
Change in the lead!
McIlroy's birdie putt slips by but it's not a bad effort and he taps in for par.
DeChambeau follows up by sinking that 10ft putt for birdie and he takes the lead in the Masters!
-
Hole 2 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-10)
Yikes, DeChambeau is well short with his eagle attempt.
It is a fast putt but he's given it so much respect there expecting it to trickle all the way down there.
It's finished up 15ft short for birdie.
-
Hole 2 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-10)
He's just not settled here, McIlroy.
His pitch into the heart of the green checks up and doesn't release to the hole. He's still a good 30ft from the hole and you can see the disappointment in his body language.
DeChambeau lining up his putt but he'll be well inside McIlroy for his birdie putt.
-
Hole 2 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-10)
McIlroy only able to play out the bunker down and to the left of the green.
But it's set up a really good angle to attack this Hole 2 pin.
Advantage DeChambeau though who is able to reach the green in two but he's over to the left and must have left himself a 50ft at the very least.
He wasn't taking the front bunker on anyway.
-
Hole 4 – Rose (-6) Johnson (-5)
A three-putt from Rose who drops a shot at the par 3 fourth.
His par putt didn't look too bad, too. Just missing on the high side.
He drops one of the two shots he's picked up so far but is still well in this if he can get going again.
-
Hole 2 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-10)
"He just smacked the s*** out of it".
The analysis of one of the patrons as DeChambeau has the honour and smashes one down the fairway.
McIlroy hits driver and immediately says 'oh no' as it travels down the right side.
Almost identically to the first, he hits the very end of the bunker. Two more yards of carry and he'd have been well down the fairway, like the first.
-
Hole 1 – McIlroy (-10) DeChambeau (-10)
The birdie putt slips by for McIlroy too.
Tap in for double bogey, an asbolute HORROR start for him. Sadly, one his supporters won't be overly surprised about.
Bryson follows him in with a par putt and we're level at the top!
-
Hole 1 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-10)
McIlroy's nervy putt doesn't threaten the hole and speeds up to roll 12ft past.
In fact, he'll actually have to putt before Bryson and will give him a read too.
-
Hole 1 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-10)
McIlroy takes aim towards the pin and is brave with his third into the first green, but sends it 20ft beyond and towards the back edge of the pin.
Tricky putt coming back the way to settle the nerves.
DeChambeau with an easier chip with his third shot and he judges it well enough but he'd have hoped to have left an easier shot than the 10ft he's left.
-
Hole 3 – Rose (-7) Johnson (-5)
Two birdies from the first three for Rose who hits 3s at the two par 4s either side of the par 5 second.
He's back up into a share of third with Aberg and Conners.
-
Hole 1 – McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-10)
Bryson to go first with his second shot and he has to punch out sideways.
It does trundle down the fairway though and ends up a few yards off the front of the green.
McIlroy with the ball below his feet inside the bunker has to lay up. It looked like he caught the lip of it too so probably fortunate to be 80 yards or so out in the middle of the fairway.
-
Hole 1 – Conners (-7) Reed (-5)
Not vintage stuff from the penultimate group.
Bogeys apiece for Conners and Reed as they fall further behind the two at the top.
Conners missing from no more than 18 inches with his par putt. Yikes!
-
Hole 1 - McIlroy (-12) DeChambeau (-10)
McIlroy's drive is down the right side and looks like just falling into the bunker down just off the fairway.
DeChambeau with the draw on his 3-wood but it started left and it's into the trees down that left side.
Nervy start from both. McIlroy begins his walk off the tee as soon as DeChambeau hit and was quick to point his arm out to the left to signal where it was going.
That would've helped him feel better after his drive.
-
On the first
Here we go then, the big two are on the first tee and this Masters Sunday action can really get going now.
We'll try to remain impartial of course.
Huge ovations for McIlroy and DeChambeau making the walk here and the crowd are nine deep around to watch.
