Emmerdale fans furious as they claim the ‘wrong character’ was killed off in brutal New Year’s Day episode
FURIOUS Emmerdale viewers raged that the wrong character was killed off in last night's dramatic scenes.
Teen Heath Hope was the victim of a tragic car accident after joyriding with his tearaway sister Cathy.
He was riding passenger in the backseat and encouraged driver Cathy to speed up ahead of the fatal smash.
The outcome left viewers cold and many believe Cathy should have been the one to bow out.
One wrote on X: "Why have they killed Heath off when Cathy was right there? Missed opportunity."
Another posted: "Please throw Cathy in young offenders and then prison for years for theft and manslaughter. Get her off our screens."

A third asked: "Why Heath and not Cathy?"
A fourth said: "Please tell me Cathy is gonna be the one to be written out?"
Others said they hoped Cathy was locked up in a young offenders prison with a lengthy sentence.
The build up to the grisly death scene saw Wendy discovering her car keys - and car - had disappeared.
Realising that Cathy had taken it, she and partner Bob began to panic.
They desperately tried contacting the wayward pair to no avail.
Having received the address of a party the pair were meant to be at, Bob and Wendy set off after them to drag them home.
Though instead they found the car wreckage.
Cathy and front seat passenger Angelica were both covered in cuts, bruises and blood as Bob desperately searched for son Heath.
He found him slumped in the back of the car with the door trapped.
Wendy rushed over and tried to rouse him but quickly realised he wasn’t breathing.
Taking him out of the car, they laid him down to begin CPR.
Bob begged Heath to hold on but Wendy realised he had already died but she continued.
“Oh please no, not my son,” cried Bob as Wendy broke the news.
The ambulance arrived and rushed them all to the hospital where Brenda and Eric met them - and it was Bob who broke the news to Brenda.

“He’s gone,” Bob said sobbing. “Brenda, our little boy is dead.”
Later the parents were spoken to by police who warned them that Cathy could be in trouble for what she’s done.
